Embeddable image slider?

Design and Skin Customization

I was thinking it would be nice to have a similar image slider for blog posts as is available in the site builder.

For example to use similarly like here, to give easy way to add pictures with captions:
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/02/nokia-3310-hands-on-its-hard-not-to-like-this-modern-take-on-the-feature-phone/

I was wondering would it be possible/easy have it work similarly as the polls for example, so that you create it and then it would be available in the editor as a choice in the "Embed Local Media" with videos and what ever choices are usually available for each website.

That would maybe need it to be module of it's own?

Thanks for all the infos, seems like the style_formats is a good way to do this. And maybe add some other things also :).

Open Graph tags to gallery front pages?

Jamroom Developers

It might be a good addition to have Open Graph tags added to the gallery "front pages" also. Currently the item_detail_meta.tpl works with single photos, but just noticed that it is not included in the gallery "front" pages where all the pictures are shown.

Now when a user shares a single photo page, the photo is included in the share as a link. But when a user shares the whole gallery, Facebook offers the logo of the site for the share link, which I think is not ideal. A sample image would garner more interest.

The og:image could be the first image of the gallery. Or maybe the galleries could have a "list" image similar as in blogs, that would be used with shares and lists. Althought that would mean a lot of work.

Sorry, where the form_editor.tpl is? Could not find it in ACP nor looking via SFTP.

Having mobile friendly embedded pictures in forum and blog posts?

Using Jamroom

Thanks for info, that will help with mobile users with bad connections.

By the way, are the Jamroom picture sizes xxlarge, xxxlarge, etc. selected so that they just work with the different Site Builder column widths? Of course they can't work if the whole site has some peculiar custom width, but some common one?

Adding text choices to the editor?

Design and Skin Customization

Currently in the editor for forum and blog posts I have "paragraph", "heading 1", "heading 2", etc and "preformatted" for different text options (see attached picture).

Is it possible to add more choices to this? Or are they automatically taken from css files?

I would like to have a different font and size for picture caption texts and this would seem to be an easy way to add it.

Having mobile friendly embedded pictures in forum and blog posts?

Using Jamroom

"Stretch" seems to give out this...
style="width:100%;
...which works nicely.

I am not implying anything is wrong by any means, just coming from Ning and trying to get used to new things :).

Ning's mobile version never worked that good, so I used to have a lot of pictures in blog posts that were small sized and would open to bigger ones when clicked (that worked pretty well with desktop).

Now that the Jamroom pages scale nicely to mobile, I think using container wide pictures is the way to go. In mobile clicking small pictures gets cumbersome and in bad connection might make the user to abandon the whole article, so having the pictures viewable from the get go seems like a good idea.

Having mobile friendly embedded pictures in forum and blog posts?

Using Jamroom

I am new user to Jamroom, so still trying to figure out things.

How are you guys embedding pictures in forum and blog posts so that they work nicely with mobile users also?

It seems to me if I try use pictures with "float" position, they tend to "break" when viewed in phone with narrow screen, going over the side. Or I have to select a small size for them, which is not ideal for desktop browser.

Lately I have been selecting "original" size and then selecting "stretch" for the location. That seems to display the pictures very similarly in desktop and mobile browsers.

Any tricks out there?
