Moving a Forum Category to another Profile

Ning To Jamroom

@michael - Thanks for the information! I'll definitely post this as a suggestion. In the meantime, I've taken a look at the tables and will take a stab at writing the SQL and updating it on my test data :)

@strumelia - Definitely more than a hundred discussions, closer to a thousand which is why I'm "promoting" this category to a new profile forum where it can then be manually sorted (or not) over time into new sub-categories.

Moving a Forum Category to another Profile

Ning To Jamroom

I'd like to move one specific Forum Category and all of its Topics over to another Profile. What would be the best way to go about this?

I'm not adverse to hacking in the database if I know what tables to go after (silly person that I am ;) ).

Forum Categories not showing in New Profile

Ning To Jamroom

I created a brand-new Profile and added some new categories to its Forum.

For some odd reason none of these new categories are showing up. Any ideas?

Dealing with Old Suspended Members

Ning To Jamroom

Thanks for taking the time to share that, Strumelia!

Lots of good tips. I hadn't gotten around to figuring out where to find the IP address so you've saved me a lot of searching. I'll definitely start my own list.

Also a good point about the deactivating users. I've done that as well as keeping them in the suspended quota.

Dealing with Old Suspended Members

Ning To Jamroom

Thanks, Douglas!

I'm considering the Ban module. One problem that I see is that it might accumulate stale email addresses and there would be no way to validate them.

Right now I've got suspended members corralled in a quota where they can't do anything on the site.

I've recently run Kickbox and know that these emails are still valid so I might just leave them sitting there as I definitely don't want these people reapplying.

Do other ex-Ningsters have a strategy that they would like to share?

Dealing with Old Suspended Members

Ning To Jamroom

I'm looking for advice.

My Ning site has a small list of suspended members. On import I chose to bring them over into a "suspended" quota just in case I needed their information to permaban them on my new site.

Is there a way to ban them here as well or should I just delete them altogether?

Thanks!

Order Groups by Member Count

Ning To Jamroom

Could it have always been ordering from oldest group and it was just a fluke that the oldest groups were always the ones with the most members? Just a thought :)
