oddity in latest activity stream

Closing this ticket... solved.

We went live just about 24 hours ago, and are having fun, despite a few remaining 'not figured out yet' challenges.]

JamRoom 6 question

Using Jamroom

Hi again,
Joanna and I are a team, and we realized that this dictionary widget code WAS working when we signed out, but any signed-in user was seeing this code.

We'd like to have this dictionary on our site ASAP; any suggestions on what the problem might be, with this added tidbit of info?

[aside note: very impressed with the frequent updates added for the beta JamRoom 6, and we (with our Ningja Skin, JamRoom 6) went live yesterday. Thank you to all who helped get us there.]

The awesome team here has added a UTC time for us.
We're still working on adjusting to the calendar in Ningja skin, JamRoom 6 but the UTC time is now available and so this discussion will be closed.

Thank you,

option to 'copy' a prior event listing

Suggestions

Hello all,

I posted this in this forum because it's a feature/option we had on Ning, and one I used frequently.

I didn't find another request here in the support forum for it (apologies if this is a duplicate discussion).

As an example: I teach a course presently titled "English Addicts" and list 3 or more classes per week related to this course.

Much of the event listing (class listing) detail is the same (consistently).

However, each class focuses on a different topic, so the title of each class changes (names the topic).

I schedule these at varying times, to accommodate the changing enrollees' schedules.

On Ning I could click 'Options / Copy' and then a duplicate copy would pop up and I could quickly edit and post.

Here on JamRoom, unless I'm missing something, my choice seems to be to either list over and over and over as 'one-off' classes, and painstakingly copy and paste consistent info.
Recurring does not work for me in this instance because, for example, I might have
English Addicts, a new ocean? on Mondays at 9 a.m.
English Addicts, idiom practice on Mondays at 4 p.m.
English Addicts, immigration on Wednesdays at 3 p.m.

I usually change class schedules on the first weeks of a given month, so I suppose I could list recurring for one month only, and then edit to change the titles.

and then repeat this process for each month.

But it would be handy if there were an option to copy/duplicate any past event.

Any suggestions?

Moving a Forum Category to Another Profile Forum.

Suggestions

This might work well for us, too.

We are using JRdiscussion, and our "everything else" category has an unwieldy 1884 discussions in it.

But we already have 25 categories and don't want to add more to the main forum area.

And, if this tool were feasible, we could further reduce the number of main forum categories (which we'd dearly love to do), by combining several.

I like this idea.

It sounds plausible within the JamRoom construct as I'm just beginning to understand it.

It would help our members feel less overwhelmed, too.

I'll join you in supporting this idea.

user/signup challenges

Using Jamroom

Well, Paul changed something for us and now master admins do see all answers, and new users do see all questions...
But no one other than master admins is seeing ANY of the answers.

Our hope is to figure out how to have SOME answers showing for all and ALL answers showing only for master admins.

I'll close this discussion now. We are going to try to go live today, even if members won't see all the answers... at least they're NOT seeing the private info. That's good enough for us to be able to migrate.
Wish us luck!

Thanks to all,

user/signup challenges

Here's a screenshot of what happened after I deleted the 'meant to be for master admin eyes only' questions from the user/signup form:

user/signup challenges

OK. So I'm still stuck.

I thought I'd figured it out.

Our challenge is that ALL of the questions are showing for public view... even though from the account settings form designer page I have selected 'master admin only'

Here's what happens:

Several of those questions are intended to be VIEWABLE by master admins only.

But all of the questions are showing to everyone. [see attached screenshot]

We don't want this! Only master admins should see the answers, should see the form field labels, for several of those questions.

So then I reread Michael's notes above.

And thought to myself, maybe I'm supposed to delete the questions that I want master admin view only from the user/signup form fields, and ONLY list them in the account/form fields.

So I tried deleting them from the user/signup form, and registered a test user, and this time ONLY the user/signup questions showed up for the registration form a user fills out, and then when that test registrant was accepted, all of the labels showed up on the profile page, but with blanks on the other side of the colons.

So I'm still not getting this.

I've sent some screenshots in via support ticket, but if anyone reading this 'gets' what I'm trying to explain and can maybe suggest something else for me to try, I'd be grateful.

[We're 'this' close to feeling ready to go live, but obviously need the signup questions working to do so.]

One other question, too.

We want the profile pages to show the public questions, but we also want a 'cue' to show before their answers.

Right now, all I'm seeing are columns of colons below profile images.

I'd like, for example:

country:
years studying/teaching:
level:

Feeling like a dunce, but grateful for any help,
