Change Owner of Comments

Using Jamroom

Thank you Paul. I only use it for re-posting stuff in the correct place, but obviously it helps with replies to the comment, if it is owned by the OP instead of the Admin who moved it.

Change Owner of Comments

Using Jamroom

Follow-up...
I just managed to select a comment by copying the code at the start of it. In this case "7/30". The comment was suggested and I was able to accept it and change the owner. I think perhaps I didn't leave enough time for the search to return results when I tried it the first time. I tried again with another similar comment but was unable to get the suggestion this time.

I would still like to be able to identify a comment by its number if that is possible, because the text search is very hard to use?

Change Owner of Comments

Using Jamroom

I sometimes want to move a user's comment from one place to another, when they've posted in the wrong place. I can copy the comment and post it for them, but then I'd like to change ownership of that comment.

In Change Ownership [Comments], I have tried the active search for the comment, by typing in the first few words, but it doesn't seem to work. It has suggested the comment to me, including the current owner (me), but I can't click on that suggestion to accept it.

It would be much easier to selecting the comment by comment number. Is there a way of doing that?
Thanks.

Banned items - does the ban apply to new items only?

Using Jamroom

Hi guys. What was the outcome of your discussion about banning partial user names, but not retrospectively?
We are still under attack from someone who is creating lots of new accounts with names ending "rock", but as they all seem to be coming from one IP address, I have banned the IP address instead of the name.

Banned items - does the ban apply to new items only?

Using Jamroom

@paul thanks for your quick response.
I was talking about banning profile/user names, rather than email addresses.
I was thinking of putting "rock" on the banned list of 'profile and user names', and including partial matches (see screenshot).

I'd expect that to cause the system to reject registration of user and profile names containing 'rock'.
Are you saying that it would also prevent login of existing users/profiles with 'rock' in the username? That what concerns me. I only want to ban this pest from signing up (500 sign-ups so far), preferably without preventing existing, genuine users called rock-something from logging in. I don't mind if NEW users are prevented from creating a name with 'rock' in it.

My question was, if you ban a profile/user name, will existing profile/users that match the banned string become inaccessible?
I'm just not clear on where the ban is enforced.

Banned items - does the ban apply to new items only?

Using Jamroom

Some time ago you kindly fixed a bug, and that allowed us to ban user names by partial match on a given string.
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/using-jamroom/60939/banned-items-partial-profile-names

Am I right in thinking that the banned items list applies only to new items?

I am getting a lot of nuisance sign-ups (seem to be from Russia), some ending in "Ruips", which I have banned, and I've just noticed a lot of names which end in "rock".
We have some genuine users with "rock" in the name, so I don't want to add it to the banned items if it's going to cause problems for existing users.

Thanks in advance.

Photo Albums - links

Using Jamroom

I have noticed another thing with Photo Albums -
If Image Gallery items are deleted, they seem to remain in any Photo Album they've been added to, but are not visisble.
Example...

Photo Albums - links

Using Jamroom

Paul, thanks for your full and clear explanation.
It's only a problem because we rely on users to find the link to their reference image and put it in their artwork image caption.
I'll discuss with Roy.

Photo Albums - links

Using Jamroom

There appears to be an inconsistency in how displayed thumbnails are linked.

When looking at the Gallery list for a user, clicking on any individual image thumbnail takes you to that Image's detail page.
When looking at a Photo Album list for a user, clicking on any individual image thumbnail takes you to the whole Photo Album.

When our users are trying to copy the link to an image on its gallery page, they will get the correct link of they right-click and copy the link address from a gallery list, but the wrong link if they do the same in a Photo Album.

Is there any chance this could be made to work in the same way?
