Should a profile's 'Latest Activity->ALL' go to the Timeline page?

Using Jamroom

I will attach a screen shot. Apologies - I wasn't involved with the initial set-up of the site so I am never clear what is specific to PMP-art.com and what is standard.

The 'All' indicated by a pink arrow, takes you to the Timeline view, same as if you clicked the Timeline tab (circled in pink). I assume the line of code you have given is what is used to populate the Latest Activity section on this screen shot. It shows the 10 latest activities by the profile.

I'll ask Ruth about this, because if it's custom, she's the one who will know what it's doing. Thanks for looking. I'll ask again if it's not something we know how to fix.

Should a profile's 'Latest Activity->ALL' go to the Timeline page?

Using Jamroom

@Brian - thank you for your quick response. Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly. I am aware of what you've said about the Timeline view.

My question relates to the Latest Activity list which is on a different page view from the Timeline, and shows only the profile's own activity, not the activities of anyone they follow. (It matters not who is looking at it). What I am asking is, if you select to view 'All' Latest Activity on your own profile page, is it meant to go to the Timeline view?

The point is that it would be more useful if it just expanded the list of your own activities, rather than go to the Timeline.

There is already a Timeline tab on the Profile page, so if the 'All' activities thing goes to the same place, it seems to be redundant.

This is an issue on our site, where for some reason the Timeline search doesn't seem to work, so it's not possible to get a list of just your own activities. This in turn is needed, to follow up on actions you take, because of the lack of notification if anyone responds to your comment/question with a REPLY. So basically, a solution for any of those things would make us happy (happier - we are already happy).

Should a profile's 'Latest Activity->ALL' go to the Timeline page?

Using Jamroom

Hi there.
We have a 'Latest Activity' feed on the profile page showing, naturally enough, the latest activity for that profile. Clicking the All button against Latest Activity takes you directly to the Timeline view, which of course includes all activities by that profile plus everyone they are following.

Shouldn't ALL Latest Activity show a list of all activities for own profile only? Really, that is what we would want it to do. If 'All' just goes to Timeline, it seems rather redundant.

Is this the same for everyone?

Can I restore a deleted account?

Using Jamroom

Thanks @Michael.
Roy has not yet updated to 5.3.0; we are still on 5.2.41 and I don't have the Recycle Bin option. I guess that means the deleted account is gone for good.

Brian mentioned that 5.3.0 (Stable) is due very soon. Should we wait for that or update immediately?
Thanks for your help. It's good to know that it may be possible to restore data in future.

Can I restore a deleted account?

Using Jamroom

I know when this question was asked a year ago, the answer was that you can't restore an individual account that has been deleted.

I thought I saw in the list of recent fixes and changes that there is now a method of restoring items that have been deleted from the data-store, and I'm wondering if that makes it possible to restore an account now.
[I know the deleted User Id, thanks to an enhancement you made to the activity log last year.]

I would be grateful for your advice. Thanks.

Search Timeline - never gets results

Using Jamroom

I sent login details on 3rd Dec in a support ticket https://www.jamroom.net/ticket/23582/minor-problem-with-photo-album-lightbox-option-may-not-be-shown and I left a comment about this Timeline issue on that ticket. Should I raise a new ticket?

Could you explain how the Timeline search is supposed to work, please, as I may just have misunderstood. I can't find anything in your documentation. Does the Search only search my own activity on the Timeline? Is it a string search or is it just certain fields?

Here is a screenshot I put on the ticket. I would have expected the Search to find the first entry when I searched on @wanda-mcdonald, or on the photo title "Montana Photography", but when I entered those terms, I got no results.

Since I first posted this issue, I did manage to get some results; searching 'photo' found 2 comments by me containing that word. I just tried that again and it no longer works.

It would be very useful to be able to search for activities by people I follow, by using their @name, or for specific events such as "new photo". Is that supposed to be possible, or would that be a new feature?
Thanks.

Search Timeline - never gets results

Using Jamroom

I have never been able to get results from searching the Timeline. Could someone explain what I'm missing, please, or where to look?
On my Timeline (or anyone else's), I click Search to get the search box, but whatever I enter - text strings with or without quotes, @usernames, hashtags, there are never any results, although these things are in the Timeline.
Mentions works, but only if @username has been used in someone's activity update, not in a comment.

Users recorded as following a profile, but they have not followed.

Using Jamroom

Sorry I have only just seen your question on this, Brian.
I would expect there to be an unusually high number of followers at the end of May and June, because that is when the majority of members were transferring to the new site.

"How did you determine that all of the followers were added in 1 day?"

I looked at Janina's Followers list from the tab on her profile page. My understanding is that they are arranged in order of latest first - I did a quick check to confirm and I believe that's right.

I was looking for the user who had complained that day (12th November) about the false 'follow'. To my surprise, she appeared quite a long way down the list, on page 4 (16 followers per page). I checked a lot of those that came before her in the list, and all of their Timelines showed that they had followed Janina in the same day; at the time I looked, I think it said '12 hours ago', or about that.
This was true of all the ones I sampled until I reached the complainer's profile. I then looked beyond that profile and checked until I reached one that had followed a considerably longer time ago, which was the 150th in the list. Of the preceding 149, all of those I checked had the same time period on that 'follow' action on their Timelines. I have just looked at a few again now, and they all say they followed Janina "one week ago".
For example http://pmp-art.com/lonetta-avelar has only one action on her Timeline that I can see, and it is that follow. Her profile appears on page 6 of Janina's followers.

Here's another, http://pmp-art.com/linda-willason who is on p4 of the followers. I asked her by Private Note on 13th Nov, and she said she did not follow Janina.

This one http://pmp-art.com/cindy-nowotny, I asked and she didn't follow Janina that day either, but thinks she might have followed her much earlier. Her timeline also shows following "one week ago", although she was travelling and not on site at that time.

So, it certainly seems plausible that it's a display issue.

Apologies for not explaining what I did. I have been trying to look for this information within long Timelines, but I can't get the Timeline Search to work in any way.

I wonder if this is the same problem I have seen. I raised a ticket www.jamroom.net/ticket/23787/ and @Brian looked at it for me.
There was an profile for the user, but no account.
This is what Brian deduced...
QUOTE
I believe I know what is happening here, and it's a bit complicated. It all starts with a user signing up, but never validating their account (this is why you'll see some accounts as "inactive" - they have not email validated their account for whatever reason).
At this point BOTH the user and profile account exist. The user either doesn't receive the validation email, forgets about it, whatever - they just don't validate their account for some reason.
Then, a while later they come back and try to signup AGAIN - but in this instance they submit an invalid quota_id, and the system deletes the created user account (since it is created before the profile module can validate the profile quota), but the profile is left in the system from the first time the user signed up.
I know that sounds crazy but it's the only way I can figure we can get a profile in the system WITHOUT a user account.
UNQUOTE

We deleted the profiles and got the users to register again.

I just looked again, and that user's notifications are all turned off. When I looked a couple of days ago, only the Followers was off. She may have turned them off individually, but there is no "unsubcribe" event for her account in the activity log. Anyway, that would seem an odd course of action if she has been generating followers in some way.

Roy has sent a broadcast newsletter recently, and following that, there are about 20 of your new 'unsubscribe' log events, some of them twice for the same person. A couple of the people are known to me so I have written to ask them if they chose to do that. I will update my other ticket, (notifications being turned off), if/when I get a response.

Sorry to be weird.
