google Translate?

Ning To Jamroom

Hmmm..... thanks adolygwr.... now if I only understood what you're trying to explain ;-) I need step by step directions. When I was on Ning, I was able to add google translate to the main page in the area that is automatically added to each page I went to. Is there some short cut for doing that here? Or do I manually add it to all pages? and where would I put the code that Google translate gives me? (I did manage to figure out where to get that code from Translate, so that's a step anyway).

Groups: notifying or emailing group members

Using Jamroom

Thanks, strumelia - good info as usual.... Can I clarify something for myself?

Let's assume no one has changed their notifications. Since we have the member notification set to "send email" for both Discussion Updated and Group Watch, does that mean that any time a new discussion is added or updated, the members will get an email? Do they need to do anything to make that happen (such as clicking on the Follow button for the discussions)?

What if the group is using a general Comment Wall? Or if pages are added? Do they get notifications about those as well? Or only if someone posts an announcement about that in the Groups Discussions?

google Translate?

Ning To Jamroom

Has anyone used Google Translate on their site? We had it on our Ning site and it worked well for our members (we have members from over 50 countries). I haven't tried it yet on Jamroom but wanted to check to see if anyone else has used it or something similar.

Groups: notifying or emailing group members

Using Jamroom

Is there a way to automatically notify the members of a group if someone posts something new in the group?

Also is it possible for the group owner to email the members of their own group?

Thanks!

How to Connect responses on main page to discussion thread (not profile)

Ning To Jamroom

The only way to explain this problem is to use an example and look at the attached screenshot. We posted a discussion in our discussion forum and it showed up as it should on the main page of our site (bottom item on the screenshot).

Two people responded to it and their responses showed up on the main page but they weren't linked to the discussion forum and it doesn't reference the discussion thread (no title). I'd like people to be able to click on the response and go directly to the actual discussion. Now it just takes you to the profile that responded. any suggestions?

Two Nings combine into one JR site?

Ning To Jamroom

I know I could download the .csv memberdata to figure out who the duplicates are, but I'm not sure how that would help when we actually important the Ning 2.0 archives from two sites into one JR site.... (and yes, we would use my good friend Paul to do the importing since I don't trust myself to do that part).

So Paul put on your thinking cap and let me know if you think this could be done.... In the meantime I will try to figure out exactly how many duplicates we have between the two ning sites.

Two Nings combine into one JR site?

Ning To Jamroom

Good points... and yes, some of the members would be the same people, with the same names and email addresses.... But definitely not all of them (or even most of them I'm guessing). I think we could probably download the list of members/emails from each site to compare them to see how many are the same...

So what do you suggest?

Two Nings combine into one JR site?

Ning To Jamroom

Can two separate Ning 2.0 sites be imported into one JR site? We'd like to combine all our folks into one site when we move them onto JR.
