Mail service

Jamroom Developers

Partially. It helps if I end up withmailchimp. Was hoping for a more generic answer regarding hooking into the JR mail functions. I guess I can look to see where the mailchimp and mailgun modules hook in.

Mail service

Jamroom Developers

Is there a way to easily switch mail providers? Mailgun is no longer serving my needs and was looking to switch to MailChimp or Zoho Campaigns. Is there a hook that was used to integrate Mailgun that can be used to easily use a different api?

Replacing jplayer

Jamroom Developers

If you look at the jplayer site more closely, the last release was over a year ago. There has been little activity since on the site or github. Even the forum has little activity and fewer responses. There is little support for more recent popular player capabilities. None of these are good signs considering the increase in video usage. There are no commercial initiatives to move this forward.

The flowplayer license is not that expensive. 85E for a site. 1000 to distribute it up with JR. I've seen the documentation on replacing the JR player, but I was wondering if anyone had actually done it and could make any recommendations or problems.

Replacing jplayer

Jamroom Developers

I am looking to use the Google IMA SDK for advertising in the player. Unfortunately, jplayer is not in the list of supported players

https://support.google.com/dfp_premium/answer/186110?hl=en

I can't tell if it's possible to do something custom with jplayer.
https://developers.google.com/interactive-media-ads/docs/sdks/html5/quickstart

Has anyone tried using this with jplayer? I can't find any documentation of anyone doing so. jplayer support resources are non existent.

Alternatively, has anyone had success with, or tried, any of the other supported video players with Jamroom? I am considering switching to Flowplayer; but any recommendations/experiences are appreciated.

Cloudfront configuration

Using Jamroom

As I said, images are coming through fine now. It's the audio files that are not playing now. 403 forbidden error. I have confirmed configuration key.

Video streaming questions

Using Jamroom

Third request. What protocol is being used to stream the file? No streaming server is being used but you say the file is not being downloaded to the user's hard drive.

If no file was being saved, we would be using RTMP, RTSP, HLS, HDS, or smooth streaming (for example).

Video streaming questions

Using Jamroom

douglas:
1. The file isn't downloaded to the users computer for streaming. The file streams from your website using HTML5/Flash players.

3. Most devices these days are supported, all audio and video files that are uploaded to your site get converted to a file(s) that can be played on desktop and mobile devices.

what protocol are we using? Device support depends on the formats and the protocols being used. There is no format/protocol that is supported on all devices. The only thing supported across all devices is progressive streaming and progressive download and that gets saved to the user's hard drive. But you say we are not doing that. But at the same time we are not using any streaming server.

Video streaming questions

Using Jamroom

1. Is the video streaming or doing progressive download? I don't see any requirements for a streaming server so it seems the user would have the file on his hard drive.

1a. If we are streaming, what protocol are we using?

2. If I check "block video downloads", and i want to allow people to pay for the download, what format will the download be? Or will they just get whatever original file was uploaded?

3. What devices are supported?

Cloudfront configuration

Using Jamroom

I had only configured the main cloudfront tab. The cloudfront settings on the global config was not obvious. I didn't expect there to be settings in 2 different places.

Anyway, Images seem to be working, but the player is not able to retrieve the audio file. Getting 403 forbidden error.
