Where are my groups after Ning import?

Ning To Jamroom

@strumelia - I started a new thread on group ownership here: https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/ning-to-jamroom/28440/how-to-change-group-ownership

would you be so kind to copy your comments over so future ex-nings can find them? I am hoping all my questions will help someone down the road...

How to Change Group Ownership

Ning To Jamroom

@Paul, another reason I am looking to do this (just so you know the meaning of the madness) is that I am now going to have groups be part of a premium membership. When I set up my quotas to turn off regular member's access to groups, I lose over 50% of my groups. After I set myself as owner, I can set those regular memberships back to not having access to groups.

* I am happy to pay someone to do this for me like you did for @strumelia
* I want groups assigned to my "Community" profile like forums, not actually my own personal profile.

How to Change Group Ownership

Ning To Jamroom

I asked this on another thread as a Part B question and @paul so kindly agreed to follow up for me. https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/my_posts/28334/where-are-my-groups-after-ning-import

This will likely be something other ex-Ningsters are looking for an answer about so I am posting it as a new thread.

I am looking for a way as admin to change the owners of the groups. This was one of the main problems at Ning they never address. Group members start a group and then would leave or disappear and we would never be able to change their name/ownership.

I would prefer to name myself group OWNER of all groups, and then can assign moderators as needed.

@strumelia I am tagging you in case you wish to copy your comments over to this thread :)

Can I turn off Comment Wall in Groups?

Ning To Jamroom

I am looking for a way to turn OFF the Comments Wall in groups. I can delete each message individually but there are probably at least 7000.

A Bug in Groups Maybe?

Ning To Jamroom

When I am on a page of THE individual group and wish to update it (I am trying to add a group image since that didn't seem to transfer), I click the "gear/update" icon and it takes me to the main group page like

http://restministriessunroomcom.jamroomhosting.com/group/update/id=49
( you can see in the url it says update/id=49 but it is just the page of groups listed.)

Three quick questions about Groups

Ning To Jamroom

@strumelia - what happened with this? I am using Slate, but with the move I decided to abolish the comment wall. No one used it in the right way and it overwhelmed new members because nothing was organized.

I just want to delete the comment wall from all my groups (or the content could stay in the "archived files" but I don't want anyone to see it.)

[Besides, I told them it wouldn't import here--which is what I thought--and I have just got them to get more familiar with the forum board]

unable to delete groups I created

Ning To Jamroom

I had a few groups archived when I left ning and now want to delete them from JR.

I go to the group's individual page.

I click the trash.

Pop up says "Are you sure you want to delete this?"

I say Yes.

It runs a moment and takes me back to the main group page /group

The group is still listed.

I click on it and it takes me back to the individual group page.

I go through the cycle again.

I've tried it on a couple of groups 3 times through the cycle and I cant seem to delete it. These ARE by the way groups I have created, but still, as Administrator I should be able to delete them.

As far as I know, I have admin powers to do this--plus the pop up says "are you sure?"

I looked under group quotas to see if there was anything about deleting a group, but no luck.
