a discussion just went missing

Ning To Jamroom

Paul wins!

original author inadvertently changed his privacy settings. We got it back

back to the follow up question - this isn't about the ning to jamroom conversion, so would you like me to put future questions here or in a general forum.

thanks again

I'm not pointing fingers this time, but something was there and now it's not. the original writer of the post says he didn't delete it.

is there a place I can go back and look for it? the whole thread just vanished.

also - should posts like this go here or in a more general discussion forum?

installed the updates today. my site got really screwed up

Ning To Jamroom

update/correction:

the problem was NOT from the system update. Just a crazy coincidence. there was an extra space next to a "{" in the footer that completely screwed things up. Not Jamrooms fault.

Michael was on skype with me for 45 minutes being incredibly patient and helpful and not ever being rude about the fact that it was not at all his fault.

Thanks.

Ning To Jamroom

thanks Michael, I'll do that now.

all the pages (besides the home page) are blank. all that shows is the ads from my external ad server and the comet chat. nothing from jamroom shows up.

Ning To Jamroom

uh oh. Those updates need an update.

the footer is gone. The only page you can access is the home page. things are really, really bad.

I'm trying to stay optimistic, but I think I moved off Ning too soon and things weren't done cooking. I feel like a beta tester and I hate being a beta tester.

help.

files in groups - transfer issues

Ning To Jamroom

That would have been AWESOME to know before the transfer. While I understand that's a limitation of Ning's archiving tool, the jamroom marketing strongly implied that it was a complete site transfer from my network.
"Ning 2 sites can be fully imported from a Ning archive set."

There's no asterisk there that would have prepared me or my members for the information that's lost. This is going to cost a few of my important members time and money that they already invested in me once. That's bad PR for everyone involved.

I did homework and waited so this kind of thing wouldn't happen. Of course I'm responsible for not doing enough homework or asking the right questions. It's just embarrassing and frustrating to be wrong about a number of important things.

which brings me back to the point - is there anything I can do now? I haven't cancelled my Ning membership manually, but typing in my .ning.com address forwards me to my new jamroom site. Now do I get that content?

files in groups - transfer issues

Ning To Jamroom

I had a few clients who had files in their groups (mp3s, pdfs, etc) that seem to have been lost in the transfer. I'm using Jamroom Hosting. Is this common?

What can we do about it? Some of it was very important.
