Like/Dislike Buttons - semi-anonymous

Ning To Jamroom

Found the option in the menu, thanks. The hover doesn't work though, that only tells me if I've liked something, not who else has. My members say the same thing, and are requesting the list.

Thanks for the link to that discussion - I'll read through it. I know there's a problem with links from emails not working.

Here's an example of a group with something missing. Sometimes it's embedded media (picture, youtube, etc) often it's a file that was uploaded to the discussion.

That group is one of the two that has the most cases of this.

Ning To Jamroom

so the Like/Dislike buttons are cool. I have a few questions about their anonymity.

Right now you can receive an email that tells you who liked your post, but it doesn't say publicly. I'd rather have it completely anonymous or better yet, completely public. Facebook shows a list of who liked something. Can I have that?

Also, can I ONLY have a like button instead of both?

Where da settings at for these options?

thanks again,
Scott

Ning To Jamroom

Hi paul,
I'll do that now. The stuff I'm missing is files that were uploaded inside groups. Lots of files were there, now there are none. from what I understand Ning doesn't include them in the archive.

I'll look into that, as I had a few wrinkles with the groups transfer.

My big issue with groups was the amount of files that had been uploaded to quite a few of my high profile groups. Those, apparently, don't get included in the file Ning provides. I don't know what to do about that.

Thank YOU! :) That's exactly what I needed, as it took me to a page I've never seen before that had the correct drop downs (that I had never seen before). I like my chances on this one.

Thanks for saying my site looks good, while I didn't make it, I worked with my developer really closely on the style. I'm happy to share it if people will keep helping me get all the bugs worked out of my import and help me manage this new system. I started a conversation about it here:

Ning To Jamroom

when I use this url:
http://hypnothoughts.com/forum/admin/settings
I get a blank page in the admin panel with only the menu on the left visible.

when I go to:
http://hypnothoughts.com/admin/forum/settings
I get "not found" on my actual site. It doesn't even keep me in the admin panel.

yeah, that's not working either. I'm getting "not found" when I try that.

Most people tell me that I'm not stupid, but jamroom really makes me feel like an idiot.

An offer / trade / etc

Ning To Jamroom

My former Ning, now Jamroom hosted site, is www.HypnoThoughts.com. If you go there, you will see that it is HIGHLY customized and looks more modern. Lots of people have complimented me on it (I didn't do it, I hired a dev who is still helping me and is great).

Anyway, there are still some bugs here and there, many of which I'm sure can be changed in the settings/dashboard of jamroom, a few that might be CSS related. I am NOT detail oriented and I am very busy. I've got a full time job and a newborn son, so I don't have any of the resources to make everything perfect.

So here's my offer: I'll give you (whoever you are) my CSS template if you make it perfect and give me a ton of tech support to make my site work as well as I want it to, including fixing some stuff that went badly during my import from Ning in the groups integration.

I'll make this deal with Jamroom or with individual network creators. I am 90% of the way there, but the last 10% is beyond me. I can have you chat with my developer, who is great but new to jamroom.

Ning has just modified their pricing for 2016, and it's way worse for some people. So I'd imagine more refugees are on the way. The main thing that prevented me from making the move was the look of the JR templates, which is why I made my own layout. I'm sure it could make things much more attractive for others as well.

Anyone interested?
