In form designer, please add an option to show all the fields seen according to display group

Suggestions

At present when editing fields in the form designer (in the "create" and "settings" modes) we see all fields seen by all user groups. As a result, while editing the fields, we cannot see the overall form structure that our users see.

Without going into an individual field with the modify button, we cannot see which users will see that field.

Is it technically possible to add a button at the top that allows Admin to select different user groups, and then see what they see, while we edit the form? This would greatly facilitate making different forms for different user groups.

I have made a mockup image to show how I imagine this change to the form design page would look (showing my imaginary button with dropdown menu for selecting a set of users, in order to reveal only the fields seen by that set of users).

I imagine that this would be useful for all JR networks that have ore than one kind of membership or signup option.

How does Webshot module (in the JR Core) work and what is it for?

Using Jamroom

OK - thanks.

Looks like something I don't need especially, even if it is useful for others.

How does Webshot module (in the JR Core) work and what is it for?

Using Jamroom

The webshot module, buried in JR core, does not appear to have any documentation, and the essential purpose is not described (as far as I can see so far).

I have it enabled for one of my profiles, and the webshot menu tab (see attached screenshot made with an external app) takes me to a page where I can upload a stored image. It does not seem to be an actual tool for taking screenshots as such.

When I upload an image, nothing appears to happen: the image does not appear under the webshot tab in the profile.

What purpose was intended for this module when it was made? What uses have other site owners found for this?

I was hoping that it would somehow help me build up documentation of my own Jr site by taking screenshots and storing them accessibly inside the backend somewhere.

All advice and suggestions welcome.

How can I showcase active member blogs on a dedicated page for member blogs?

Using Jamroom

On my site, until now, there has been no obvious place for visitors to see if any members are blogging about anything.

I have set up a Site Builder page at mysite/member-blogs, with the following hopeful title:

Member blogs will be listed here (if we can work out how!)

This page is linked to a main menu title "Explore" as a subtab labelled "Member blogs"

Is there any easy way to have active blogs listed (from the member profile pages) with the most recent entries shown at top, with at least the blog entry title showing?

Or perhaps the list could cover all blogs, even the ones that have never been used, but show only the most recently active blogs on the page. A scroll bar would be useful for anyone who would like to look for older entries, and a search button, for anyone who would like to search for specific content across all the blogs.

Any advice welcome! Thanks.

Facebook API advice gives me the heebie-jeebies

Using Jamroom

Hi... I received the message below from FB today. I can read the words but the sentences make my mind go blank. The overall impression I get is this: "FB has done something to something. This might affect you or not. You can do something to something to find out if you need to do something to something." When I log in to my dashboard at FB, I see the same message.

Do I need to do something about something, and where should I begin?

Peter

My test email failed - how can I find the source of this problem?

Using Jamroom

Hello world... the problem has been solved :-)

1. My credit card changed a few months ago and my mailgun account went into arrears.
2. My login details were hard to track down and I had to operate the 2 factor system to get in to my mailgun account.
3. I paid the arrears (almost nothing) and closed the account.
4. JR team has set up their management of mailgun servicing of my site, and that is now working.

Question - does mailgun keep logs of mail that are now accessible by JR. Are there privacy issues to be considered here?

(For my site, it matters little as the site is essentially meant for public communication. My members should assume that there is no real privacy, even if their communications are private 99.9% of the time.)

Mail system is still not reaching me (and users of my site, according to one of my new members). I will set up a private support ticket for this. Thanks

How often does the search index rebuild itself, automatically? Never?

Using Jamroom

Today I happened to do field-specific search on my site for Poland as a profile location, and had some results. That was OK.

Then I tried a broader search across all profiles, and FEWER results were returned. The smaller number was odd, so I went to search module, and manually refreshed the search indexes.

When I returned to my search box, and did the search across all profiles, a large number of results were obtained.

So what does this mean? Do we always need to manually refresh indexes to keep them up to date?

I can't find any information about the frequency of automatic indexing in the JR search system. Is there a setting for this?

Can we ask the system to automatically refresh search indexes daily at midnight, for example?

Or is the search index build system not automatic?
