Home page vs Landing Page

Using Jamroom

Thanks for providing clues for the clueless!

Using Site Builder and the >>>Page Settings, I could change the home page URL to sitename/home and the All Services URL to sitename/

Now the main function of the network is first and foremost on the landing page, and "Home" is still there to give visitors a comfortable starting point and overall introduction.

Now it will be interesting to see if this has any positive effect.... (currently the search terms for the two words in my site name place us at the top of 1,150,000,000 results in G*gle search, so I have some hope we can be seen).

Home page vs Landing Page

Using Jamroom

When visitors reach my network with the main site URL (sitename/) the automatically land on the Site builder "Home page".

I would like the main URL to instead redirect to a specific page URL (sitename/all-services).

If visitors land at "all services", they can still access the technical home page in the main menu at top left.

Is this a change that can only be implemented on the server of the domain name host?

Is it accepted practice have a home page and a landing page that are different?

New poll error?

Using Jamroom

When I set up a poll, no problem.

When I return to a newly-made poll to change something, the poll options automatically expand from the number I set to a maximum list of poll options (looks like 20 in my case), with all the previous option fields deleted, without me touching the options number.

To get back to the number I set, I have to manually delete all the automatically generated option fields, one by one. This is too slow, so it is quicker to delete the entire poll and start from scratch again.

i.e. editing a poll does not seem to be practically possible.

Is there a "Reply Order" setting as well as a "Post Order" setting?

Using Jamroom

Thanks, but...there are two problems with that.

First, it would require me as admin to manually pin posts on behalf of each member and their posts.

Second, the pin function affects the position of the whole thread (post and replies) in the forum, not the relative positions of the original post and replies to it within the thread.

Note:
Here in the JR forum, posts by different members are shown in Newest First order. Within each thread, the original (oldest) post remains at the top of the thread, and the replies are presented in Oldest First order.

What are the settings that allow you to have Newest first for different posts by different members, and Oldest first for replies within each thread?

Is there a "Reply Order" setting as well as a "Post Order" setting?

Using Jamroom

In the settings for forums, we have two choices: display posts in "Newest post first" or "Oldest post first", but can we then control the replies to posts?

In my forums, I use the "Newest post first" setting, but when replies are made, they are also shown as "Newest first" and the original post is shunted to the bottom.

Readers cannot immediately see the original post to which replies have been made.

Is there a "Reply Order" setting that I have not seen?

How to move a forum post from one forum to another?

Using Jamroom

Thanks. That's good.

It seems I was looking for a complicated solution to a simple problem!

But... now I have another question (new topic).

How to move a forum post from one forum to another?

Using Jamroom

As admin, I would like to move a forum post from one forum to another. Is this possible?

The post was put in the wrong forum discussion thread by a member of my network.

I can see how to change the owner of a post, but that is not what I want to do. The post should remain with the current owner but be placed in a different forum.

Getting the best out of OneAll (social signin) - how?

Installation and Configuration

1. Can we set up a JR site to recognise the first login by a Oneall user and send that person a welcome message that tells them how to access their account settings to set up their local (i.e. on my site) profile page?

2. Will they actually see the same profile form in the account settings as members who join the same signup quota directly through my JR site?

Form fields are displayed to users according to their quota/usergroup designation, but I don't know if that display function works when the login route is different.

The DeepL translation tool that I often use to handle Japanese work mails has a nice built in read aloud function.

I'll definitely check those extensions. Thanks for all.

Thanks.

Actually, I'm quite happy with the JR chatroom as it is. We don't really need to tangle with the outside providers.

Perhaps a text to audio (machine talking) plugin might be good as usability support, if it is possible. Just a thought.
