How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Installation and Configuration

This is the newly download Service Shop I have, Foxycart is still required. As far as I know my JrCore is up to date.

How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Installation and Configuration

This might explain why I cannot activate the Service Shop without activating Foxycart.

My hope is that I can try to get a simple payment system running for members without paying Foxycart fees, and then add more expensive functionalities if usage of the initial system justifies the expense.

How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Installation and Configuration

paul:

For users to sell services I'd suggest using the Payment module with the Service Shop module - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/244/service-shop

hth

Thanks very much. This is a well-stated short scenario for a possible use, alongside the relevant modules.

I wonder if JR can suggest how to best combine the installation and access to different modules - for a range of scenarios?

Such advice does already appear scattered through the documentation and support pages, but perhaps a page could be designed as a stand alone FAQ on

"How to combine (or mix and match) JR modules for different purposes",

Making it (still more) easier for new JR users to envisage the different ways of using JR would be good, I imagine.

e.g. for
(A) an stand alone JR site-owner, or
(B) a profile owner who is a site user alongside many others with similar purposes:

1. Selling sound files for download
2. Selling document files or download
3. Selling audiovisual files or download
4. Selling image files for download
5. Selling books and other things that have to be delivered separately
6. Selling intangible services that can be provided online inside the JR site
7. Selling intangible services that require contact through channels outside the JR site
8. Invoicing and billing (legal documents)

This alone is 16 different scenarios in total, but they might cover a great many possible situations.

How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Installation and Configuration

OK - now that I have Service Shop and Foxycart deactrivated, the shopping cart icon has disappeared (as hoped), while the "Cart" menu item remains on my site and is visible even when logged out.

This must - by elimination - be produced by the "Payment Support" module.

As a test, I have deactivated "Payment Support" and the "Cart" menu item has gone.

I actually want to set up the capacity for users to sell services from a personal profile, but I cannot find any JR documentation for the Payment Support module. (using Documentation search field and keywords "Payment Support")

(Sorry - should I open a new thread for this new topic?)

How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Installation and Configuration

QUOTE:

"Go to your ACP and select the module, then click on its 'Info' tab. There is a 'Module Active' checkbox. Uncheck that and save.
The module is now effectively uninstalled. There is no need to remove it from any quotas etc.
When a module is inactive, a 'Delete MOdule' button now shows on the Info tab page. Click this to delete the module (and all its version iterations) from the server. This isn't necessary, but is there as an option to save disk space.
hth"

I am not seeing the Module active checkbox. But I am seeing "FoxyCart eCommerce is required by the following modules and cannot be disabled: Service Shop"

So that has to be my next stop! Thanks.

How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Installation and Configuration

Unstalling, or to uninstall, is not described in the FAQ for installing modules.

It might be generally useful for people to know how to uninstall a module before they install it.

Can all modules be uninstalled in the same way?

Does a module have to be deactivated in all quotas before it can be uninstalled?

If so, after deactivating the module everywhere, how is uninstallation then achieved?

My particular issue just now is with Foxycart. I would like to uninstall this. How?

Can "private notes" have a delayed sending option that allows last-minute revision of a message?

Suggestions

One feature of my non-JR email system that I find incredibly useful is being able to set a delay on actual sending after pushing the send button.

This allows us to make amends after the impulse to send a message is followed by immediate regret that certain words have been misspelled or that the entire message was a mistake.

How should password fields be set up?

Using Jamroom

Thanks for the confirmation.

And after long messing about with these labels, I had long since forgotten what JR originally provided as out of the box! Sorry.

What seems to me lacking is clear explanation for the out of box settings and why they might need to be changed, or why they should never be changed even if they can be changed.

Passwords are critical to the user experience, and setting up the fields needs to explained comprehensively for both Admin and users.

Thanks

How should password fields be set up?

Using Jamroom

If the above layout and examples of labeling are correct and of general utility, then a similar text could be added (perhaps) to a JR Documentation under the title of "Password settings" so that others can optimise their password set up more easily.

How should password fields be set up?

Using Jamroom

Thanks. I have set up the fields as follows. I hope these reflect correct understanding of the password fields, and that the method of labeling is useful for other JR network owners (and their users).

Note: For template names and field labels, the labels are fixed (i.e. automatically the same) for the signup and account detail forms (i.e. for form/signup and form/account).

The sublabel and help notes can be made different for the purposes of /signup and /account, as below.

User/signup form
user_passwd1
label = password
sublabel = Your account password, for login. Use at least six letters and numbers, with at least one number.
help = Change it later if you want. See "Log in help" under Home menu tab if you forget!
Required = YES

user_passwd2
label = repeat password
sublabel = Repeat to make sure there are no typos (mistakes)
help = See "Log in help" under Home menu tab if you forget your password
Required = YES

User/account form
user_passwd1
label = password
sublabel = Enter a new password to change your password. Use at least six letters and numbers, with at least one number.
help = Change it later if you want. See "Log in help" under Home menu tab if you forget!
Required = NO

user_passwd2
label = repeat password
sublabel = Repeat the new password to make sure there are no typos (mistakes)
help = See "Log in help" under Home menu tab if you forget your password
Required = NO
