Hi Paul,
I know I never had any sign up questions. But the problem is that the sign up is suddenly displaying an option for account type, member quota and member quota (without flagging). That should not be there. It should be on under their profile page, so I can turn off flagging on members who abuse it. I have included a screenshot.

Well, I think we just found the problem. I don;'t have both options. In fact is says that I don't have the user sign up set up, which of course I know I did. I've attached what my page looks like. Hummm.. I have had a pile of crazy glitches lately and I am not sure why...

I'm not sure how, but new field of questions was added to my sign up for new members that shouldn't be there. I don't remember how to modify the sign up questions, (since I only did it once 2 years ago) and I can't seem to find it in the documentation. Can someone guide me to where I can find how to change the signup questions.

Becuase I am having a huge influx of members at this time, cometchat (if it worked) would be one less thing for me to explain how to use on the site. But I can see your point. I will have to think about this.

Hi Brian,

Because the way it was explained to me, you have to form like private chat room. The moment they would hear that, some of my more paranoid members would think it wasn't secure. I have owned NT for 7 years now, and I have never seen so much nuts from the whole political spectrum as I am dealing with now. Shoosh.. don't tell them I told you all this, But believe me, I would much rather use simple chat and not have to deal with cometchat, their incompetence and spend more money.

That would be a good idea. It sounds more like the way cometchat works and they would feel more secure. But I need to figure this out ASAP, since cometchat is breaking down before my eyes. There is Ajax which is free and open source, but the very untechy me might mess that up.

Sadly, I need the private chat, as that is how I manage a lot of the personal disputes that go on, on the site. And while I know I can make private chatrooms, the sad and very ugly nature of our political state, has rendered many of my members uber paranoid. So I will have to deal with cometchat or find a new chat..

OK now this all makes sense.
I just changed my site from an http to an https and one by one my members are saying that they are losing chat. Now I don't know what to do. Go back to http or leave it as https. Ugh.

Hi Paul,
I kind of remember that discussion, but I wasn't sure how it was resolved or the reason why. I really need to keep my text editor for the comments, so please don't take it away from me (I see that Michael thinks it's a mess). I will lose a bunch of members if you do. In fact, it is this bunch that is complaining about not having it for writing discussions.
