Adding links to "Threaded Forum"

Jamroom Developers

Hi Everyone,

Some time ago I asked about having a threaded forum, since the forum offered is flat. The work around was this:

"gary.moncrieff:...I have set up a profile called Community...

That's a good idea. Setup one profile in a quota of its own to act as the central profile. - See more at: https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/my_posts/21191/forum#sthash.DUv8MHh0.dpuf"

Which was going to bring me to my next question that is kind of answered in the above quote/post. I need a link for each post in my forum. When I copied and pasted the above quote/post, it produced this:

Which I am assuming is the link associated with that post.

So what I am looking for (if that is indeed the a link) is to have an icon located at the top each post, that would contain the actual link code embedded into that icon.

Is that possible in the near future?

I would really like to make the jump to Jamroom, but these items are holding me up and I can't move without them.

Thanks,
Perrie~

Question Regarding Seamless Module Function

Using Jamroom

Strumelia,
Just for clarity, that jpg you uploaded is from your Ning site, right?
(I've been following but I am behind everyone on the learning curve)

New Feature Request - Who am I Following in addition to Followers

Ning To Jamroom

Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't it be easier to send out a follow request, and have the person either accept it or decline and make this a mutual event instead of maybe having this be a one way follow?
And I agree that people are going to want to see who they is following them.

Latest Ning Import module released.

@claygordon

I really need the threading. It helps to organize the tangents the discussions go. How about if I set up a dummy account and use that account as a forum?

thechocolatelife:
The discussions within Groups do not have categories that I can see. One of the things about the Ning "Forum" concept I rely on is grouping discussions by category. Is that wrong?

I don't really know if my members really use this ... need to think ... hard ... mind melting

I have the same issues, Mr. C. I need a threaded forum with discussions by categories that have editing capacity.
I think I have more of a brain freeze as in I feel stuck. Trying to see how I can make these work arounds work for my group.

Strumelia,
I think I understand what you are doing. In effect, you are creating a dummy account to use as your forum. Then you have threading. But here is my next question. I have moderators. Can you set moderators on this dummy account?

Open Question:

The group thing might be an alternative for me, but then the issue becomes that I do have a lot of active groups on my site. How do you distinguish between the group that you set up as your main forum group from all the other groups?

brian:
I want to update this thread with the work I have been doing:

1) It's not likely we are going to implement threaded results here in the Profile Forum module - there's just too many variables in play with the existing categories, searching, pagination, etc. to get it in place and have it work correctly.

2) I've updated the User Comments module however to have threading available. So for all non-forum areas, you can have threaded comments

Sorry Brian for not replying sooner! I have been out of town.
I think we are talking about apples and oranges. So first, what I need is a central forum, not a member one. If this isn't possible then a discussion about threaded or not, is irrelevant. A central forum is what many Ning refugees have on their site. Now if that is possible, maybe the threading wouldn't be as hard (that I am not sure of, since I am not a programmer).
I realize that the Jamroom platform has been member centered until us Ningsters came along, but I would say the bulk of us don't have member centered sites, but rather group centered. Does that make sense?
