Jamroom Hosting is now live for everyone!

Jamroom Hosting

OK so I am probably the first member here to do this from scratch so I have a few questions.
I have tired to set up my Mailgun, did the first part.. seemed OK. Then I get to the verification part and I am lost. I am assuming that Jamroom is my DNS provider, since I am using their server. But on the information generated from Jamroom I don't have TXT records,a C name, and I am not sure about the MX record either. When I go to the next page, I see that the IP address that Jamroom provided, does not match the one that mailgun has. I don't know how to proceed.
And obviously, I can't even start to upload my NIng download without all this, right?

Also the directions say to download to my folder found on my dashboard. I can't find or create a folder. And now the account I thought I had up seems to be gone.

Should I be ignoring some of these directions, since they had to do with not importing to Jamroom directly?

Ning archiver issue

Ning To Jamroom

I am almost done with my download from the Ning archiver and it seems that some of the files will not download. It's not much .. maybe like 11 discussions missing, etc. from each content group. Will there be a problem when I go to upload here?

Speedy Jamroom hosting...

Jamroom Hosting

Hiya Brian,

First let me say that Strumelia has been one of your biggest advocates for Jamroom. She just love you guys! I have a lot of faith in her judgement as she is one smart lady.

Also, if I seem super cautious, it's because I have wasted a lot of time and money already on platforms that didn't work for me. So please bare with me.

I am not sure which level of VPS I would need, since this is a whole new concept for me. On Ning, I was on the middle level. I am not sure if that translates into anything here.

Strumelia:
Lovin' it so far!

Can you tell when I switched from Arvixe shared server to my Jamroom server hosting? hahaha....

Strumelia,
Is that performance chart the difference between Arvixe and Jamroom? I didn't realize that Jamroom's server was up and running already. Have I missed something?

Out-of-the-Box Setups

Suggestions

G'day everyone,

So this has been a concern for me too. My site is a political/news discussion forum. The forum is the heart of the site. We presently keep the top 20 discussions on the front page, and use the tabs as a way of referencing the discussions by topic. You can see my site here: http://www.thenewstalkers.com. My group does not adapt well. So I really need those above capabilities. Everything else on the page is flexible. And just like Dave, I need to be able to edit comments and even edit member articles. Is this possible here?

Adding links to "Threaded Forum"

Jamroom Developers

Hi Paul,

Well I am glad that there is some sort of code that it can be done. OK with that answered, in honor of Leonard Nimoy, I will purchase a hard drive back up and take the leap to the "Final Frontier".

Strumelia,

Thanks so much for that information. That is a terrific text editor.
So really all I need to know is about the link situation and I think I am ready to take the leap, so to speak.

OK an embed option only happens when I go to update my comment. How odd. Even stranger is that if I click on the little pic I get a totally different screenshot than if I click on the words screen shot. Please use the words to see the little yellow link that Ning has.

Yes - Jamroom has a link to every item in the system - including individual comments. None of our customers have ever asked for it, so it is not something in our templates, but it's just a URL.

OK so could this URL be embedded into an icon that could be click on?

I would include a screenshot, but I don't see how to embed that.

Jamroom Developers

Hi Brian,

I have two questions for you.

I have a concern about using the group discussion mod as my main forum. My site has also many groups. Will I be able to run a group discussion as my main forum and also have all my groups at the same time?

The next question has to do with comment links. On Ning, when there is a comment posted, there is an associated link to each comment. There is a little icon on the top left hand corner that looks like a little link. When you right click it, it produces the comment number. This is a necessity for my group, as we often refer to them to find comments. Is there a way to provide that for the forum that you described above?

BTW, does Jamroom provide a full text editor for comments in the groups? That is also needed.
