I think I've made a mess of my set up.

Installation and Configuration

I'm pretty sure I have it all set up right [she says as she bangs head against the wall]

Installation and Configuration

New day, another try. This time I am using cyberduck, like in the video. I thought I had everything right, but now I am getting a message that Jamroom will not allow. Is it because I tried first with filezilla? Does something need to be reset from the Jamroom side of the server?

Installation and Configuration

I realize why the graphic you so kindly supplied me with, didn't look like what I was seeing. It's because I am on an apple and have a slightly different interface. But even if I wanted to give it a try, I couldn't. It seems that I am locked out of my site. Just one of those days. Ugggg.

Installation and Configuration

Actually everything is still on the external hard drive and I am trying to figure out how to make the transfer.
I don't seem to have a public_html folder or at least I can't locate it. I'm still looking around.

I think I know why I am not getting this. I am using Jamrooms server. So what I have to do is transfer (somehow) the stuff on my external hard drive to the Jamroom server.

Strumelia
Thanks so much for your help. I think the issue is that I am seeing something different from what you just posted there. The screen that I posted is the first thing I see. For instance, there is no file option, like you have. Also I am confused when to make that Ning file. This download took forever and I don't want to lose it.

OK got that done. So here is where I am at. I have downloaded all the Ning archive and I am trying to follow Strumelia's directions, but there are so many options at on firezilla connection board, that I am worried to do the wrong thing. For instance, I don't see log in type "normal" anywhere. I also don't see where to pick SFTP. Here is what I have:

Can you tell me how I am supposed to configure this. I am not sure what to do with each of the Ning archives.

Brian,

I am not sure if you made a mistake in the directions or that my set up is messed up. There was no tools offered under the ACP. I found it on the side column of choices. I did the system reset from there too. But now that I did that, I still see the other skins there but not active. How should I proceed?

Also, do I have to set up my mailgun again?

Installation and Configuration

Hi,
I have spent the last 2 days trying to figure things out, and I either made a mess of the import ( I am not even sure if I got the import in right) or I messed up some sort of configuration. Is there a way to reset everything? I think I did that by deleting the cache, but I am not sure. I don't want to give up on the platform.. but to be honest, I am lost. I just keep going around and around and getting no where. I am presently working with drop and drag, but if the Ninga skin is easier, then I'll do that. I

Ning Ninga skin vs Site Builder

Using Jamroom

Michael,
This platform has a lot to offer, but because of that, it might not be as easy to construct as our old 2.0 sites. I just have to understand the functions better.

I am a very visual person, so seeing what I have done, helps me move to the next action. So setting up the layout is usually the first thing I do. This will be the 4th platform I have used (Grouply, ning 2.0/3.0, & Wordpres/Buddypress/bbpress) but this one for some reason seems to be the most challenging. Maybe it's the front end visual feedback that is the issue?

In any case.. I think I am beginning to get it. No worries! (and Lisa is a wonderful cheerleader) :)
