Trying to get a (scrollbar)* slider on Activity Feed

Using Jamroom

I have read through all the info here and I can't seem to find how I can get a slider onto the activity feed (I would also use it for my recent comments). I know that there is a way to do this, since the Ninga skin has it, and I am using the Ninga skin with SE, but the moment you use SE you lose the Ninga skin formating.

Actually, something just hit me. Each of you gave me a perfectly valid way of fixing my problem. I am sure that is the case with a lot of issues that happen here.

@Gary, are you referring to line 4?
@Lisa, What is the difference of doing it your way as opposed to Gary's? I'd like to understand this better. Also, when should I be making a clone of the work I have done? Does everyone make clones?

I can't seem to find a way to get rid of these very stubborn gray bars that are on the sides of the Ninga skin. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. Does anyone know where I can find the file?

Thanks Lisa for a more detailed description, (and thanks SE for trying, but I don't have much coding knowledge). I thought it would just be easy as to type into the code, (if I knew where) the font and color of the logo, since it really isn't a true logo (sans picture), but this is another route to go.

I see I have a long way to go with my learning curve. I am not using filezilla just the Jamroom server, so I would think that might make things easier.

I would like to change the header to a very simple type. Just trying to recreate what I have which looks like this:
But I would move the "speak your mind" to under the name of the group.
Is there an easy way to do that, or do I have to make up a template and import it? I was thinking that since I would put it where the Ninga name is, that I could just replace it with mine and change the color to match.

It is just for a section of it. I list the top 20 groups (like in the screenshot I included). I didn't realize that it would need a custom template. Yes, that would be very helpful, Paul and thanks
