Updating Discussion and Timing out Comments

Using Jamroom

The default is that once an article is posted it can't be changed and there is no time out on comments. I am putting this forward to see if there is a want/need for these things.

Updating Discussion and Timing out Comments

No that isn't what I am talking about I am talking about the ability to modify discussions should be allowed , while the comments should time out after say 10 min or so.

Updating Discussion and Timing out Comments

Using Jamroom

I am wondering if anyone other than me, would like to their members to be able to update their "Discussions" on the forum, while only letting them have a limited time to update their posts. With unlimited time on the posts, there is the possibility of members abusing it, by making nasty comments and then going back and deleting them. On the other hand, authors of discussions might have made an error, which they would want to fix. This is an option we had at Ning, and I would like to have it here.

Auto-follow set after posting in a discussion. Other options?

Interesting point Strumelia and quite valid.

Allowing members into groups

Using Jamroom

Quote: Invite is a module that we started developing some time ago but was never completed or released as it would have been an open invitation to users to spam each other. Users can message their followers. Allowing users to message all other users will be abused.

What I was talking about was an invite function that only admins to the groups could use. Same thing with Newsletters from the admins of groups, not something the average member could abuse. Since it was in the works, does it mean that at least some of the code was written?

Ohooo... So how as an admin can you send out multiple invites? You can't do it with private notes, since it only allows for one person at a time.

Thanks Michael. That solves some of my question. But how does owner of a private group let a new member in and how do you send out invites?

Allowing members into groups

Using Jamroom

Hi Strumelia,
In Ning, when an owner of a group wanted to either let members into private groups or delete members from groups, etc, they could go to Options>Manage Group Members. I don't see how to do that here for the owners of the groups. Neither do my beta testers and I tried to find it in the Jamroom forum, but couldn't.

We are beta testing my site, and what I have run across is that there seems to be no way to manage members in groups. Is there something that I am missing?
