There are others from Ning asking about this specifically...just sayin'. It's a real nice feature if a member posts a useful long post but with one inappropriate sentence in it- like for example cluelessly posting someone's address and phone number. Good to be able to edit that out without deleting the whole post heavy-handedly. Otherwise the admin feels like they are swatting a fly with a sledge hammer. ;)

Yep. Stuff like that, exactly.

Creating a test template

Ning To Jamroom

Paul -

The test.tpl file is there. Along with test_row_1.tpl and test_row_2.tpl. I am pretty sure these are not part of the default skin?

Creating a test template

Ning To Jamroom

I want to create a standalone test template like the one shown in the {debug} video.

At some point, either Brian or Paul may have added one or more test templates in my working skin's templates directory.

What I want to do is isolate some code at a URL known only to me so I can test it.

In particular, I am looking to test the code I mention in Question 3 in this post:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/ning-to-jamroom/22325/profile-page-latest-forums-changing

What do I need to include to make sure it works? This is my first shot at it.

{assign var="selected" value="home"}
{* Include Header File *}
{jrCore_include template="header.tpl"}

    {* BEGIN Container *}
    <div class="container">

        {* BEGIN TEST CODE *}
        <div class="row">

        {* PUT TEST CODE HERE *}

        </div>
        {* END TEST CODE *}
    </div>
    {* END Container *}

{* Include Footer File *}
{jrCore_include template="footer.tpl"}

I thought it was a new feature. BTW, there may be a bug in the sort ordering when threading is enabled.

I mentioned it to Paul here:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/ning-to-jamroom/22423/profile-page-change-sort-order-of-comments

Enabling threading appears to invert the sort order, displaying oldest comments first when order by Newest is selected.

I tested pretty thoroughly, so it should be good. I just tested the Sort Order here and don't see any problems. Is it a specific page you see it on?

Brian - it's on my Profile comments page.

In the User comments module, setting the sort order to newest works - as long as threading is not enabled. At least for me. I don't think I did anything in the template code to make it break, which is why I originally asked this question.

Editing member comments

As the creator of my Ning site, I had the ability not only to delete comments but also to edit any comment from any member, irrespective of where the comment was posted. I don't see that option here. I see the trash can icon, but not an edit icon.

I have found this ability an important tool in effective moderating.

Latest Ning Import module released.

Ning To Jamroom

@Paul - this is good news as it makes the transition a lot less stressful, and I can cut and paste between browser windows rather than having to make local copies before I do the re-import.

I can keep the existing forums copy around for a while (Arvixe will loooove that) until I am happy with the way things work.

I will need to change the Lastest Forum module on the home page to display group discussions, yes? It's now displaying the just "pages with comments on them" style. I would like some advice on the quickest way to make this happen.

Sounds like a perfect resolution to this problem.

Strumelia -

Good question.

Paul - Where would this new forum appear? As its own Group?

Will it keep its sub-categories? I would like to elevate it to appear in the top menu and I know I can do this in the forums config by specifying an explicit URL.

Renamed Gallery on a member Profile - now have two galleries

Limits? Where we're going we don't need no stinking limits!

I only have about 26,000 image files in the photos directory of my computer. Just shy of 124GB. I would reach the limits of my Arvixe "unlimited" hosting account well before I reached the limit of the new bulk rename function. Not to mention testing the limits of my patience given the upload speeds I have available to me.

25k? I would have thought some nice binary number - 16k, 32k, or something like that.

Profile comment wall. Did you install the user comments module update? I did. Might be in there.
