Changing search pagination

Design and Skin Customization

Paul -

Added the page break into the search form and reset the template caches (not running in developer mode).

Did not change the number of results displayed.

However, adding discuss_description to search increased the number of results from 11 to 28 so changing the pagination is more important than ever.

This was a latency issue somewhere (might have been local cache on " foil " as search term). Searching for other text gets 10 as the pagination length.

Changing search pagination

Design and Skin Customization

Paul -

I've made so many changes to header_menu_desktop.tpl that I doubt it's in line 167 any more! lol

But thanks, now what I know where it is I can find the text and add it in.

Adding fields to Group Discussion listings

Design and Skin Customization

So instead of

{$item.forum_text| ...

which in the jrForum item_search.tpl, change it to

{$item.discuss_description| ...

in jrGroupDiscuss item_search.tpl

Adding fields to Group Discussion listings

Design and Skin Customization

Members have told me that it's confusing to them that the results for Group Discussions and Forum Discussions (this is a Ning site on JR so other skins/sites may not have Forum Discussions) are different.

As I am relatively new to JR one of my ongoing challenges is knowing exactly which template to modify and in which module it's located.

I am looking to add fields to the Group Discussion item (display Date and Poster, text from the description) to make it similar to the Forum discussion display.

Where is this done for Forum Discussions (search results)?
Where is this done for Group Discussions (search results)?

Once I know that, I can cut and paste and modify the code to make it work.

router and server errors debug

Installation and Configuration

@SE -

Is this a Ning-specific question?

There is a forum specifically for server configuration and installation questions and there might be other resources there that could provide you with answers.

I have started searching for answers and asking some questions in the other forums that are not specifically related to the Ning migration, general template and skin customization issues, for example.

Just a thought.

Adding jrGroupDiscuss discuss_description to site-wide search

Design and Skin Customization

I did ... I just wanted to know if I was overlooking anything.

I am closing this one down.

Changing search pagination

Design and Skin Customization

In the following search:

http://www.thechocolatelife.com/search/results/all/1/4?search_string=foil

Results are returned in multiple categories. As can be seen in the URL, the number of displayed results in each category is 4.

I want to change this to a number > 4. In which template does this variable reside? Furthermore, does changing this variable affect the click-through pages

e.g., Image Galleries Search These Results (##)

TIA
:: Clay

Adding jrGroupDiscuss discuss_description to site-wide search

Design and Skin Customization

Is discuss_description in the jrGroupDiscuss module included in site-wide search?

I know that it is when the scope of the search is limited to Groups.

At least one of my members has asked for the discussion description to be included in site-wide search in addition to discussion titles.

I know that there are performance implications in that I am now searching more text, but in the long run it would mean less time searching for my members so I think the time trade-off is worth it.

Are there any other side-effects I should worry about? I am going to assume that the template on the search results page that handles the return of group discussions does not need any modifications to handle this. Am I wrong? Anything else I am overlooking?

visitor - /crossdomain.xml in users online log

Installation and Configuration

Paul -

In configuring my site to work properly, Brian and I identified that I was having CORS problems. I was just wondering if seeing crossdomain in the log meant that visitors were getting errors instead of seeing proper pages.

This appear at different IP addresses in my users online log.

Do I need to worry about this?
If I do, what is the cause?
What can I do to fix (if I can)?
