What are YOUR first steps in setting up a Jamroom site?

Using Jamroom

Now in hindsight
I would have set up a simple jamroom test site using Elastic skin or some other stock skin and spent a month or so working with adding code and content BEFORE I started the import of a 16,000 member Ning site
With that said-after getting the server straightened out and running SYSTEM CHECK -I would go through the entire list of modules my site might need and install ALL of them- then enable them because so many are interdependent on each other- then I would open the Global Config tabs of each to see how they work and what they need
With modules installed and a skin selected then i would start playing around and asking for all kinds of help in the forum :)

I would make sure I understood how to save an edited template to the skin directory so that its not overridden with updates...

NOTE- another of the first things I would do is create a custom.css file and upload it to the skin then add it at the bottom of the include.php file- then open INSPECT ELEMENT in Google Chrome and play with the css of anything on a page until I liked it- then i would copy that css from inspect element and add it to the custom.css file

Later I would learn all i could about IF statements and where to copy them from for use around the site.. then after a few months learn how to use the debugger...problem with that is as just an owner of my own sites that gets kinda deep- you might wrap your brain around it but then not need it again for a year- at which time cannot recall it :(

Thats when its time to take it to the forum again

Hope this helps

How to undo Update Changes?

Using Jamroom

The update causing the problems seems to be in version 5.4.0b1
If anyone would like to see it via teamviewer I would be happy to show

How to undo Update Changes?

Using Jamroom

Is there a way to undo the recent update changes to the tinymce editor without losing all the rest of the updates?
When i copy/paste from one page to another using the WYSIWYG side of the editor the output has several H1 tags that should not be present as well as extra paragraph tags- also the space or margin around the images changes and when an image is positioned "left" there is a huge margin on the left side of images that should not be there.
I have to use this function 5-6 times a day and since the update I am having to go into the code and spend considerable time fixing it on each of the 5-6 articles...wondering if I can somehow revert to the previous version of Tinymce without losing the other core updates?
Thanks
Note- I have not installed the System Core update that came out yesterday- I am referring to the update that was installed previous to yesterdays

Question concerning recent updates

Design and Skin Customization

Thanks Michael
I am ok with the add on spell checker i have now so i am going to stick with it
Something i notice that I am running into is the tinymce editor I have for normal widgets is "different" than the tinymce editor that opens in a module created with aparnia
The normal widgets have the the updated version but the editor in the module created with Aparnia does not
Also my plugins that I added myself to the tinymce show up in the Aparnia created module- BUT DO NOT show up in the normal widget module ( like on home page)
I have added these plug ins in CORE module and SITEBUILDER module and saved the changes to the skin
Each time there is an update to tinymce I save a backup of the plug in folders and reinstall them
I really only need the plugins installed in the aparnia module- but was just trying to wrap my head around why they are not appearing in normal widgets
I will post a couple screenshot examples here- Notice the new tools in the normal editor are not available in the older editor used in the module we created with Aparnia-just wondering why

Question concerning recent updates

Design and Skin Customization

Hi Guys
Yesterday I updated my site with the latest updates and and while in the tinymce text editor I noticed quite a few new plugins/enhancements- I also saw a spellcheck ( I think?)
Well I tested the spellcheck and got an error message concerning something to do with not a "proper JSON"...
Anyways....I already had the spellcheck plug in installed and worked through this issue awhile back ( had something to do with google spellcheck no longer active)
So I reinstalled my previous version of spellcheck ( before I did the updates) and it works fine now...also had a custom google maps plug in I had to reinstall as a plugin
Here is where I am a little puzzled...
After I reinstalled my "maps plug in" and replaced the "spellcheck" plug in with my backups- all the other enhancements disappeared from the tinymce editor
I had briefly noticed a "strikethrough text" button and an "anchor text" button among others..
The only plugin I replaced was the "spellcheck"...the "maps" was just an addition...
Are the updates to the new tinymce editor changes being made in the spellcheck folder?
I am trying to understand how I lost them
Thanks

MP3 Player Broken

Using Jamroom

I switched the player in the above from EMBED PLAYLIST to AUDIO EMBED but it does not seem to work well with surrounding widgets as its overlaid over the widget above it and the image in the player is in wrong place ( screenshot)
My goal for this particular player is to actually make it similar to a radio station-Upload 100 songs that play randomly and only display the current song playing...I think its possible using JR

MP3 Player Broken

Brian
I just noticed the players that are working are made using the AUDIO PLAYER tab in the embed media editor
The player that is NOT working is made using EMBED PLAYLIST option-maybe that will be a clue?
PS- THANKS for the ACP menu fix!

Thank you Douglas and Michael
I cant tell you how much I appreciate your efforts as this has been a frustrating reoccurring problem for some time- you guys really always go "above and beyond" with support!
Douglas the changes you made are perfect and are exactly what I wanted-BUT for some reason now the MP3 player on the home page is broken ( see screenshot) although its working on other pages using a different playlist? ( screenshot)
Thanks Michael for the info on "Rocketscript" I will spend some time later today here reading and examining what you have found and did and try to wrap my head around it and understand it better- then will open a server ticket or cloudflare ticket to see if they can explain more?
Thank you both a million!
