CSS Override

Design and Skin Customization

Ok cool Douglas. I am used to a rockettheme template approach with joomla which we have had our other site with for years who provide a css override and a less override.

Now we are moving to JR5, things seem a bit complicated to what we have now ( albeit we are drunken pros in rt templates as we have spent a lot of time on them lol )

We will nut it out but JR, although we love it, is a bit daunting to implement for us as everything is so different.
But we are keen on pursuing JR5 as it does what we want. With joomla we had to work like dogs to even get what we needed.

I have worked out my skin templates after realising the stuff was still cached.
My only concern is if you guys do some root skin edits when we update that will effect our edits.

Thing is in Dev mode it says it's not caching but it is still caching css??
I know you said to set default cache to 0 , but I thought in dev mode it would automatically do that?

Anyway I will leave everything as it is as my memory is real bad and even with notes I may miss that edit ;)

Thanks for the advice though and the response

ps. So removing the css from the root code will look for it in my skin? If so that is as good as an override but updates will always put it back in ( more notes lol )

CSS Override

Design and Skin Customization

Yeah I only used that as a last resort.
And it isn't a skin provided. I Cloned one and am editing it to suit our current site. ( http://punkbandpromotions.com )

Seems I may have an issue
I am running developer mode while styling the skin and yet I still need to go back into the acp and clear the cache?

My acp says this
Developer Mode is enabled - caching is disabled!
Click here to modify the Developer Tools global settings.

Yet it is still caching the css?
No Biggy but slows me down a little

Question still stands though . Is there any plan for the ability of a global override css file?

CSS Override

Design and Skin Customization

Is there any way or plans to allow a css override file that will not effect updates?
( ie . My Own css file that will not be effected with major css changes )

I have created my own skin and I am trying to change certain font colors but for the life of me ( even with firebug which the edits work in firebug ) I can't get them to work even with !important or using css specificity.

SOLVED - MOD SuPHP and Jamroom

Installation and Configuration

ok . You know when you have one of those days and something finally clicks? Well that is me . I was uploading as the root user. My apologies for wasting your time Brian. As soon as I tested with a normal user account the permissions were fine.
Thanks for everything

MOD: Audio Support - Song Download Checkbox

Using Jamroom

Is there anyway an artist can upload a song or an album and let them select if it is downloadable or not by way of a checkbox?
I have the mp3 downloads unblocked and I have set the tpl file to display the download section. But it still doesn't give them the opportunity to decide wether they allow it or not which is really what we need.

Am I missing something?

SOLVED - MOD SuPHP and Jamroom

Installation and Configuration

Yeah that's what is confusing? It is set to 0022 which should set files to 644 and folders to 755. So i'm stumped. For now I am using terminal to run a recursive permission change in my site directory but I don't like doing that in case of security issues. Any idea why my umask is not changing the folders and files permissions?

SOLVED - MOD SuPHP and Jamroom

Installation and Configuration

Uploading JR5 is the only problem I have ever had with Permissions.
Are they created with 777 as default?

SOLVED - MOD SuPHP and Jamroom

Installation and Configuration

Actually im wondering why everything comes through as 755 or 777?
shouldn't it be 755 and 644 for files?

SOLVED - MOD SuPHP and Jamroom

Installation and Configuration

Hey guys. Having a few issues with upgrading to 5.1.2 as all perms
are set to 777 instead of 755 for Mod SuPHP.
Even if I upload them as the user through FTP they are still 777.
We have a dedicated server which is running Mod SuPHP. ( Dont ask )
I could change the perms sitewide using terminal but there must be another way ???

Is there anyway to upgrade easily with Jamroom as it keeps throwing 500 errors due to the permission issue ( I am Guessing )
Any help would be appreciated as our server just won't serve 777 files.
( And no we can't change it for reasons. )
