Question regarding photo galleries and categories

Using Jamroom

paul:
You could always add a 'gallery_category' field using the Form Designer then modify the Gallery templates to suit (look at the Blog templates to see how they handle categories, or maybe the Audio templates where they handle 'audio_album' (same principle))

Thanks Paul will look into that, if I did create a category this way would the other items regarding pulling out the images to view still work, ie if the galleries are within a category and someone goes to view a gallery in the category or would the image lists and Lightbox need adjusting also ?

Do you think though this might be something to consider to add into Jamroom as an option to use ?

Question regarding photo galleries and categories

Using Jamroom

One thing I have noticed when you create photo galleries is that after a while you could accumulate many of these, even into the hundreds and beyond, and this could make it a long list to look through.
So my question or even a suggestion is this:

Could it be possible to have an option for creating categories to hold galleries you create ? So for instance you may create a category for ' 2015 Photos ' or maybe something like ' Burlesque Shows ' and then you would create the galleries within them. So instead of having let's say 10 different Burlesque Show photo galleries spread about in the galleries as we have them now those 10 Burlesque Show Galleries would all be in that one category. This will then give a shorter list to look through to find your photos you wish to look at, maybe also have a thumbnail where you can set a default image before the category, much like where you have a youtube image before it's title.

What do you think about this and if possible or not?

Some weird going's on with the photo navigation

brian:
This should be fixed now in version 1.6.0 of the image galleries - update and let me know if that fixes it.

Thanks!

Yep that did the trick Brian, thanks for the quick update :-)

Thanks Brian, it seems as though it is moving backwards through the list of images.

Yeah I just tested here locally and I cannot replicate this - it's all working as expected. Have you customized any of the gallery templates?

Thanks!

No the skin is as is, the only thing I have done was to activate the new sitebuilder to try it and just changed my homepage using it. Mine was working correctly until I added a couple of new photos, did you try adding a photo as this might be worth a try to see if yours changes also. If no one else is having this issue then don't worry to much as will be starting fresh on your servers but thought I might pop this onto the forum in case it was a network wide thing.

Some weird going's on with the photo navigation

Using Jamroom

There seems to be something wrong with the photo navigation. When you add a photo this is as expected at the start of the photo list as it's the most recent although when you click on it to view it then move over the photo to click onto the next one the next arrow does not show and you cannot move to the next photo. If you hover over to the left of the photo the previous arrow shows although it shouldn't as it's the first photo.

You can check this out by going to any of my test galleries and try it out

New Site Builder - home tab issue

Installation and Configuration

Trying out the new site builder and I like the way I can use it with my ProJam skin, I liked all the pages except for the home page so this works a treat now I can design the home page in the site builder. The problem I have is that when the hompage is clicked on it is not highlighted but the ACP one is, it seems to think this is the homepage , when logged out it still does not highlight, all other tabs work fine though.

Suggestion for adding photos as create gallery button in a gallery causes confusion

Using Jamroom

This is a suggestion for when a member wants to add a photo to an existing gallery.
When you go into a gallery we have a + button next to the update button, this + button is for creating an actual gallery so to have it in a gallery makes it look like that is the button to add photos, I have done it myself thinking it was for adding a photo to an existing gallery.
Would it be possible to have the + button for adding photos into the gallery and the update button next to it for updating existing gallery items and the gallery itself ?
So when a member clicks the + button the uploader starts to add the photos rather than having to go into the update gallery section then add photos. The existing option for adding photos should still be in the update section so if there they can upload photos from this section also if desired.

profile latest music column issue

Ning To Jamroom

The column which holds the play button is not wide enough and had a lot of padding around the button, also the collumn to the right of it has a large amount of padding left of 20px, the padding around the play button is 10px so add that to the padding of 20px then the padding all told along the vertical is something like 40px. Change the column which has the button in to something like 15% then change the column which holds the details to about 65%, remove the padding left and maybe give it 1px or 2px. I would remove the amount of padding around the play button also to a lesser amount to give you more room if needed.

I see it shows on your site with the default settings when in your 100% view SE but it's when it goes down to ' normal ' size that it has the issue, this is the same on my standard Ningja theme which is as is with no coding in, you can see that here with the same issue

To rectify it these are the settings I would use for that particular section

.col1 from 8.33% to 15%
.col9.last from 75% to 65%
.col9 > .p5 padding left from 20px to 2px
I would also chang the padding around the button to { padding 10px 5px } so the padding top and bottom stays at 10px but the padding to the left and right is lessened to 5px.

It would look something like the image
