How to copy n paste text on jamroom ?

Using Jamroom

Zachary Moonshine:
yeah what i have been doing is using a notepad to paste too first to remove styles and then copy that but its a bit of work simple for me to do since i am the site owner but not all users will be as driven lmao

Zachary yes I do much the same as I write so much code that I am always copying and pasting using keyboard commands as it's quicker sometimes than using a mouse. I always paste into Notepad or Notepad+ to make sure it's all clean of styles. I also use these to back up code knowing that just about any computer with basic software on can read them now and in the future.

How to copy n paste text on jamroom ?

Using Jamroom

Zachary Moonshine:
I notice every time i try to paste text in comments or blogs etc in the editor it wont let me i have to use Ctrl V ? How do i paste in plain text to remove style of the text ?

I am the same as Strumelia and never had a problem copying and pasting in other webpages. But you can do it in Firefox on here by avoiding the right click and keyboard commands. You can use firefox's own browser controls to do it. In the top right is the menu button ( the three horizontal lines ) click on that and options to cut, copy and paste are there. To use it just highlight what you want to copy with your mouse then click the menu button and click on copy or cut, then place your cursor where you want to copy the text to then repeat and choose paste.

Ning To Jamroom

Just done the same and removed my Ning site and creators profile. Don't think I will create any more Ning sites as I think they have totally given up on it's Ning customers now. Going to take a little break then will be onto my Jamroom building in the near future. :-)

Disappearing Edit and Trash button glitch

Using Jamroom

Finally got this happen on my site when opening the forum page. The first post had the icons showing which should not happen as they should be hidden until hovered over. So I managed to grab a screenshot showing the code for the .forum_actions and as I suspected the icons are set to display as a block instead of display none as it should be, so something is stopping the css code from setting the display none. If a piece of css is ignored then it will go to a default value set which would be the display block and so cause this issue.

Here is a screenshot showing the code

Disappearing Edit and Trash button glitch

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
Here I made a crappy little video of it happening yesterday- sorry for the poor quality, but it's the best i could do quickly: https://youtu.be/Za37MsIfJo0

at about 0:55 seconds, i go to refresh the page, and then it's fixed.
It happens when I go to edit posts that have already been posted, and I have yet to see it in 'middle' posts...only either in a discussion's top original post or an end post.

Yes I see the issue and it is something to do with the css not hiding those icons in the last post as I described above. When the page is refreshed the code runs which will correct the page and hide those icons. If you notice on that last forum post the icons are visible but the posts above they are not, those icons need to be hidden like all the others so when the post is hovered over they appear as normal. I will keep trying to get that issue to happen on my site to see why it's not hiding those icons.

You will notice that when you refreshed the page those icons where not visible on that last post but before the refresh they where.

Disappearing Edit and Trash button glitch

Using Jamroom

I tried to replicate this on my site but so far not go it to show the problem. From what I can see from the posts above the buttons are visible then when you hover into the post they vanish where as they should be hidden until the post is hovered into and then they show.

By looking into the css and I remove the hidden value so the buttons are visible and then I hover into the post they then vanish. This I think is what people are seeing so something somewhere is stopping the 'hidden' value in the css from not being called which keeps the icons showing then the hover runs and hides them.

Is this possible for the Timline activity to show title of photo and or thumbnail ?

Design and Skin Customization

One thing I have noticed is that if a photo has been commented on it only shows the title of the gallery and not the actual title of the photo. Also is it possible to have a thumbnail or a small image show of the photo that has been commented on ?

Is there any way of changing how to add images into forum replies ?

michael:
Think I might have a way to get this done in one go. Just get the others OK on it before release.

Thanks Michael, I understand what you said in the previous reply so am pleased you may have a way to do it. Look forward to what you come up with. :-)

Is there any way of changing how to add images into forum replies ?

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
Isn't this all taken care of by using the two modules "editor embedded media" in conjunction with "editor image upload" ? With those two modules activated, I have no trouble embedding images, site videos, and other files into forum posts as i create the posts. I can upload new images from there to embed in the post as well. I dont have to go back again to add files or images.

Am I missing something?

Strumelia it's about adding images into a reply in a forum like here. So if I wanted to add an image for something into this post I would first have to post the response then go back and update it to add the image rather than doing it all at the same time.

Trying to change header

Design and Skin Customization

soaringeagle:
thats true, however it has 1 drawback, a png, especialy a transparent png can be like 120k while the txt is like 60 bytes or so

Actually you are quite wrong on the png side of things, yes jpgs are better for images as they are different in how they compress images but they are a lossless type image so the quality degrades over time on viewing them. Png's yes can be quite large but simple png's with text are very small in size. For instance the image added here is 300x75px and is only 3kb in size and loading that will not make any difference at all compared to text. Even if you made the font bigger and a longer sentence the size would still not go much over 5kb so not really sure where you are getting 120k from, that would be a more complicated image like a picture or some thing like that but just a text sentence would not be anywhere near that and even using a jpg would still be much the same as the png size sentence.
