Search box for members

Using Jamroom

nate:
{jrSearch_module_form fields="profile_name,profile_bio,profile_genre"}

I like to add profile_location to that as well. Depends on the type of site though- my members often ask about searching for/finding other members near them to play music with.

Members tab? Not sure what you mean. Do you mean the main links along the top of your main page, one of which might be 'members'?
Perrie do you mean you member 'index' page, as in: yoursite.com/profile ? My member index page has a search box there above the member avatars, here: https://fotmd.com/profile
Maybe you can post a screen shot of where you are talking about if you mean someplace else and can't describe it exactly.

JrChat Question

Using Jamroom

My jrchat button (i'm on a custom skin cloned from Ningja years ago) turns yellow when there are new chat messages I have not read. Once i read them, the button turns white again.
My chat buttons turn to a very pale grey background when I merely hover over them though... unlike the chat buttons here which turns yellow when you hover. The turning yellow when hovering is nice to have, but the most important thing does happen correctly on my site: that my chat button turns yellow when new unread chat posts are there.

question re: apply new Ninja update to my custom skin

Using Jamroom

I see. The problem is, when I get to the 'skin cloned from' column it only shows the name of my previous active custom skin... I have a generational series of skins that have been cloned anew over time, in order to maintain a few previous generations of my custom skin. Wouldn't it mess up my current active custom skin in some way to change that to 'jrNinja' ?
Perhaps I should be doing this instead to the ninja skin, to make it understand that IT was a 'child' of Ningja?

question re: apply new Ninja update to my custom skin

Using Jamroom

I'd like to apply the latest Ninja skin update to my custom skin.

Two part question:
1) I thought i used to have the ability to use the template 'compare' tool to apply ninja updates line by line to my custom skin (which was originally cloned from 'Ningja' skin years ago). But now the Compare button for doing that is greyed out. I only get the option to apply updates if I start with opening the Ninja skin and click the compare button to compare one of its templates to my custom skin in the dropdown.... but then I can only make changes from my custom skin to the ninja skin... not the other way around.
Again, I thought I used to be able to open my custom skin and 'compare' a tmeplate to a ninja tmeplate and apply changes FROM the ninja TO my custom skin... but now the Compare button for that is greyed out. Maybe I'm not recalling this clearly and it was always this way?
Is this greyed out Compare button telling me I have to manually copy/paste any updates from the Ninja skin into my custom skin templates?

2) either way, the new update to the ninja skin involves social sharing stuff in the footer.tpl ...but that updated code includes several references to "jrNinja" skin. If I apply these ninja updates to my custom skin, do I need to manually replace all references to the Ninja skin with my custom skin's name?

Thanks!

P.S. sometimes.... IF you still wind up with a little top square area on each side bar that stubbornly won't change even though the rest of the page looks good with your new color, you have to do this:
Go into your server via FTP and into your active skin folder. Look in there and go into your IMG folder and pull out a copy of the wrapper_bckgrnd.png file. In some photoshop type program, change the tall rectangle to the color you want to match the rest of the page background, and save a copy of it with the same file name. Put the new one into your skin's IMG folder, replacing the old file.
Then clear cache on your site and you should see that area now be the color you wanted. Maybe there's a more elegant way to do this, but that's the crude way I figured out how to fix the little wrapper area in the page background on my own sites.

In your skin's Style area, in the 'style section' dropdown menu select: html.css. From there, click on the subtabs to check for entries for "page background".
