possible odd issue with db/backup manager?

Using Jamroom

Yeah i know, I had to replace one of each this week in my desktop after some aging disk failures. Fun times!
10 years from now?... we'll all be using completely different types of storage and computers and all our current 'hard drive' methods will be obsolete anyway.

How to make small "buttons" bigger?

Ning To Jamroom

Deb, forgive me for jumping in here...
I am about as clueless as you are in most of these issues, but I was able to download and use Filezilla in order to gain FTP access to my Jamroom server so that I could pull out certain files (images, .css files etc) that I could edit on my computer and then re-upload to the server (overwriting the old version of the file).
At some point you will benefit greatly from being able to access your site on its server to edit/delete/add some file there in your site. For example the skin .css "style tab" files are only able to be edited via the ACP to a certain very limited extent. Being able to tweak a small thing like a button size or a .jpg and then put the tweaked file back again is really handy! Of course, one must be careful and making a safe copy of any file before editing it is essential, so you can put the original back on the server if you totally screw up.

Filezilla is free, and is pretty easy to use once you figure out the (surprisingly simple) initial settings to connect to a server.
Here is a screenshot of my server connection settings for my Jamroom-hosted site (with sensitive stuff blurred out) so you can see the simple "Site Manager" screen in Filezilla that you fill in order to connect to your site's server where all files are stored.

Douglas linked above to where you can find YOUR JR server settings, so you can fill the info into an FTP program like Filezilla in order to connect. Once you connect successfully, you simply save those settings and connecting to 'your site' is super fast from then on. (One thing that tripped me up at first was that the "User" filed needed to be filled in as "jamroom".. not as me. see my screenshot)
I heartily recommend giving Filezilla a try... for dummies like me I can actually make it work! ;D

creating an unlisted admin Page

Using Jamroom

Thanks Brian, I looked into that and Backblaze looks very good, but I didn't want to use cloud storage.

I've been using Casper for years, but it doesn't back up to a network drive location, so now I'm testing Retrospect, which does and has many other options. Looks good so far, will be duplicating/cloning to BOTH an external (weekly) and an internal (nightly) backup drive, and also now have set up nightly auto-backups to our network drive. Retrospect can restore from there too.
I also update a monthly external drive clone which gets put in our bank safety deposit box, in case the house burns down. Hard to imagine I'd need any more than all that, I'm not some secret critical financial spy site or anything. !
After I make sure all this is working I'll get back to the subject of this thread (whew!) and do the SiteBuilder testing as you all suggested, for making unlisted pages on my JR site... sorry to get off topic.

Is it possible to use the Mailgun list of "Bounces and Failures" to move unused accounts offline, or out?

Using Jamroom

I don't think it's being proposed that the deletion would be automatic. Rather, it's being suggested that the further info (last login, site content/data amount) be shown in the (bounced email) quota browser together with a shift-select delete box where one could delete a swath of users in one go if we could see they were long gone and had never contributed anything on the site. The delete function should also have the option of deleting both their user account and any profiles associated with them, of course.

PJ brings up a very good enhancement that I've wished for as well. It would be great to have the 'bounced-email' members appear in a quota browser that shows not only their last date of login, but also their site data/content amount- these two pieces of info alongside each user in that quota browser would be perfect to check before deleting them. It's highly unlikely that it could be a loss to delete any member who hadn't logged in for several years and had never contributed any site content or posted anything at all. Not saying auto-delete... just to add info so we could better evaluate a deletion first, and then shift-select more than one at a time based on the various crucial info we can see in the browser for that quota.
The kickbox feature of dumping members into a specified quota if their emails bounce is really valuable. To make it three times more useful, adding these other two critical bits of info when viewing that quota's members would be a terrific tool in first verifying then removing deadwood.... without having to go to like three different quota browsers to check this info on each member before deleting. Which is what I've been having to do for a couple years now.

glitch when creating "@" mentions ?

Using Jamroom

The only thing I can think of is that I disabled some of the personal timelines or individual accesses to timelines (or adding to timelines) that are available to members on my site... while leaving basically just the main site-wide timeline feed in place on the home page. Could this have anything to do with it?

glitch when creating "@" mentions ?

Using Jamroom

Hmm.. so it appears that the upper/lower case thing is just not working on my sites then. Yet even when the mixed case 'mention' is not a hotlink, it still sends out a notification... that means my system is recognizing what it is, just not making it a live link when there are any upper case letters used.

glitch when creating "@" mentions ?

Using Jamroom

No a drop-down (like I do get when starting a PM) is NOT happening Nate. I just tested it again here:
https://fotmd.com/forums/forum/testing/31035/a-discusson-created-by-me

I do get the notifications either way though. (!)

glitch when creating "@" mentions ?

Using Jamroom

Not sure if this is only happening on my sites or for everyone:

When any member (either Admins or regular members) types in an @ mention in a post (so that the person mentioned will receive a notification, AND so that others can quickly click the link to go check out the mentioned person's profile page)... here's what happens:

1) it works correctly as expected when you type the user's name after "@" in ALL LOWER CASE letters- typed the same as one sees the user's name in the URL of their profile page. Examples: https://fotmd.com/strumelia (works correctly when typed as @strumelia) OR https://fotmd.com/dusty-turtle (works correctly when typed as @dusty-turtle)
2) it does send out mention notification however it does NOT create a live link if you type out the user's name as you might see it on their profile page or in a 'posted by' link. Thus, if you type either @strumelia or @Dusty-Turtle it does not create a live link for the mention (but does seem to send out a notification.

Lots of my members SEE fellow members' names shown in various places and on their profile pages as Strumelia or Dusty Turtle, and so they naturally type their mention including upper case, as in: @Strumelia or as @Dusty-Turtle ...then it fails to make a hotlink to the mentioned person's profile page because of the upper case letters they used. --> see my attached screenshot to see this happening.

I could tell my members how to do it in lower case so it works... but most members will not see my instructional post after the first week and they and new members will revert to doing it intuitively using upper case letters they see in the person's profile name.

Is there a way I can fix this to make the system recognize the profile they are typing and form the mention correctly whether including upper or lower case for the first letters of the name?
