Using Jamroom

Here is a link to an even earlier discussion, but not sure if you want to slog through reading the whole thing, it's ...epic:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/my_posts/55796/helping-my-members-see-their-pending-followers/search_string=pending+followers
Parts of that looong thread are about how i got that code in the first place, and my clueless stumbling along on the path to get there. But there are related subjects that might be useful to you (or not), if you care to dig into it.

Keep in mind that the first thread i linked to came a good while later, after my original setup stopped working due to some jamroom updates... so it reflects the newer info.

As it says at the top of that linked discussion: "in my custom skin's Menu template".

Isleander, sorry I'm posting this so late, but Several yrs ago I added a "pending followers" link to my members' profile dropdown menu, so they might quickly see if they have any pending followers waiting. Se my screenshot of the results.
If you can work through the steps/code of my old discussion on fixing that up in my custom skin code, it might work for you as well. (Make a site backup first!)
Here is the old discussion from when I had to get the code updated to get it working again:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/my_posts/64176/my-skins-pending-followers-menu-link-count-stopped-working/search_string=pending+followers
and here is what the end result is in screenshot...

Mailgun password handling change?

Using Jamroom

I just got the following email from Mailgun.. does this effect our jamroom sites at all?:
===============
"In our continual efforts to uphold the highest security standards possible to protect our customers, starting November 1, 2021, we will no longer return a value for the `smtp_password` parameter in GET /domains and /domains/ API calls.

Why we’re doing this
As a security best practice, we are moving towards hashing SMTP passwords, just as we do with all other passwords on our platform. Due to this new standard, we will be unable to show the passwords in plain text once they are hashed and stored in our secure database.

How this impacts you
After this change, you will no longer be able to view the SMTP password in plain text and must store the password on your end – ideally using a secure password manager. Depending on your configuration, any applications reliant on the `smtp_password` parameter could throw errors.

What you need to do
After securely storing your SMTP password, you will need to update any reliant systems. Applications that are expecting the plain text password in the API response will need to be updated to no longer rely on the password in order to function correctly. We’ve created an FAQ to help you make the change.

Stay safe,

certificate?/connection not secure...

Using Jamroom

UPDATE: just now heard from this member and she said she downloaded a new certificate to her computer and that solved her problem- she can now freely get to me site with no blocks.
Sorry if I wasted your time on this. ! I sent her your linked article anyway. Marking this solved.

certificate?/connection not secure...

Using Jamroom

This member who's not able now to login due to Chrome preventing her---> she's on an old mac laptop, using chrome and she says she cannot update chrome anymore.
She *is* able to access my site from her phone and a tablet... so I'm thinking it's just due to her using outdated laptop and outdated chrome browser. I experienced her same issue for an hour or so myself, with the 'insecure' block on chrome...but it seemed to quickly update/resolve itself for me. I also updated chrome again.
If that's so then hers is just an isolated case that I cannot really help her with. Do you agree?
I'm going to call this unsolvable for my one member now experiencing it, and I'll send her that link you posted above.
Thank you!

Thanks Michael! I'll go remove the Add/+ soundcloud clip button from my members' view now. Good to know it won't delete all my sc videos from my site! :)
