Releasing marketplace modules from a mapped domain

Jamroom Developers

Thanks, Brian. I guess that means that I'm using them on both domains, then; actualdomain.com is mapped to firstdomain.com - the URLs point to the same place, and the system can't distinguish between them, even though there's only one Jamroom URL in play, actualdomain.com.

Releasing marketplace modules from a mapped domain

Nope - spoke too soon. I just tried to release a licence for Image EXIF Viewer, as I know it's not used. Selecting 'Release Licence' for it on the License Browser for firstdomain.com gives a 'You will need to delete the Image EXIF Viewer module from your site before you can remove the license!' error.

Clearly, I can't go to firstdomain.com to delete it, BUT, if I delete it from actualdomain.com, I am then able to release the licence from firstdomain.com.

So in order to release my other module licences from firstdomain.com, I would seem to have to delete the modules from actualdomain.com, which I'm clearly not going to do.

I seem to need to keep the licences in place for both domains where they were installed before the mapping exercise, yet only on the newer one for modules installed after.

Is this right?

Just tried again - the error didn't happen; I think it was just an unfortunate fluke! Think I'm all good now....

Thanks Michael & Gary!

Releasing marketplace modules from a mapped domain

Jamroom Developers

I will be moving to Jamroom hosting once I've got all the OurTownStory testing done :) .

In the meantime, I was a bit nervous about releasing all licences, so I tried it on the flickr module, as I knew I didn't need it. That's when I got the message about needing to delete it from the site.

Will I not get that if I choose to release all?

Releasing marketplace modules from a mapped domain

Hi Gary,

I'm au fe with the menu above - the issue is that releasing the licences in the menu above asks me to delete them from firstdomain.com - except that is not 'where' my Jamroom is any more.......

Releasing marketplace modules from a mapped domain

Jamroom Developers

When I first set up my JR, I did so on a temporary domain name I'd registered, call it firstdomain.com, which is on Arvixe hosting. Once up and running, i pointed my actual domain (call it actualdomain.com) from GoDaddy to my Arvixe server, and in the arvixe cpanel mapped actualdomain.com to firstdomain.com.

I changed the Jamroom URL in the config files, and all has been humming along nicely. I'm now starting to build a new Jamroom network (getting a bit hooked :) ), but in the marketplace, all my modules are now licensed to both firstdomain.com AND actualdomain.com.

If I try to release a license in firstdomain.com, I get a message saying I need to delete the module, but where? How?

I only appear to *need* the licenses under actualdomain.com - indeed, I added the GeoIP module a couple of days ago, and I only have a license under actualdomain.com.

So, in a nutshell, how do I fully release the firstdomain.com licenses?

Ah - cool! It is picking up the profile bio rather than the image description - I've posted a screen cap of the Facebook debug tool - thanks Derrick!

Yes - Ning's tag area was quite useful for that, not sure about the GoDaddy one, not had experience!

Given how crucial social sharing is now, I wonder if an area that existed in the Meta Tags manager module that allowed you to map for each installed module would be a way forward - so that you could have varying settings by module - that would also help for custom modules, e.g.:

Og:title = gallery_title
Og:description = gallery_detail
Etc. Etc.

As I'm intending to have the site open to members only in the end, sharing buttons will be of limited (if any) use, so purchasing the ShareThis module just to have it populate OG tags is a bit of a convoluted fix but another site I'm planning on developing would depend fairly crucially on good og integration.
