live streaming

Suggestions

i know this is a huuuuge request
(and would likely require a single dedicated api.jamroom type server)
or could 1 of the existing (like youtube) live stream apis be supported to stream (and optionaly keep the live stream available after stream) live content to the site?
this would be so helpful for all my sites but for band type sites it could be a real game changer.

think i got it!maybe you can figure this out? (i'll check with co hosting company to)
i uploaded ffmpeg through plesk filemanager
-rw-r--r-- 1 dreadlockssite psacln 15951292 Mar 18 20:54 ffmpeg
now the file size is correct
uploading by ft currupts it
i believe now that transfering by ftp from the marketplace currupts ffmpeg too and thats why core updates fail
is it an ftp or wget transfer sessiion used in marketplace updates?

if its ftp it is likely the ftp installed on my server thats the issue? in the past i had often had "unable to list directory contents' errors when trying to access ftp

i believe i now see that the core update and the ffmpeg issues maybe related (and now wonder if the poor database performance might be related)

ok so the yum install won't work i have to compile a version with custom configuration parameters?
the weird part is the ffmpegs currupted whether its uploaded through ftp, though the marketplace, or copied from version folder to version folder, or site to site

michael:
ffmpeg is the main tool to convert media. Its what transforms videos into playable formats that work on the web. On jamroom hosting we offload the ffmpeg converstion to the cluster for processing, so no, you dont need ffmpeg on the server, but you do need it somewhere if your site uses videos.

There is a tool at
ACP -> MODULES -> DEVELOPER -> DEVELOPER TOOLS -> TOOLS -> REBASE MODULES

that will move the jrCore-version-6.0.7 back down to jrCore and delete all the other versions so you dont have any symlinks. (or old versions to revert to.)
i see
Warning! Do not run this rebase tool on a live Jamroom site!
This tool is designed for Jamroom Developers working with the Git version control system

are you sure i should try this on my live site?

furthermore if i installed ffmpeg and its dependencies and 1 of them is conflicting with the jr bundled 1 ids there a way to do a cleanup

i tried that after doing the yum install ffmpeg and it failed immediately
i want to use the 1 in jamroom..i believe right// but does there need to be anything instakled on the system as far as dependencies does ffmpeg need to be installed

if you read up a few posts you will see that its after i tried that then tried reverting it thats when i started getting the file size errors

ok so..should i do yum install ffmpeg again
i thought because i did that i might have had 2 conflicting versions with conflictimg dependencies.
from past discussions i thought only the 1 in jamroom core tools was needed with no extra depenencies added?
i want to be sure i got this right
