modifying events calander for special use

Design and Skin Customization

hi, i am recreating freedomswings.org (i'll be flying again with them starting Wednesday)
freedomswings currently uses 3 diferent sites when all they need is 1 on jamroom to do it all
the 1 sites pilotscheduling.com or something like that

the events calander would need to be modified in a way that:
1: has a drop down menu that lists when each plane and instructor is booked or available
2: once you select a plane or instructor you can add your "event" which would just be your name and the plane and times scheduled then repeat for the instructor so the date and timeframe you select would have your name the plane your name and the instructor
3 it should also alert you if theres a scheduling conflict like the plane or instructors already assigned to that timeframe.

note we have 2 planes at 2 diferent airports so an instructor could be matched with a diferent pilot in a diferent plane at a diferent airport .. so schedule conflict checks are a must

we will also have a general (public) events calander that uses the calander in the normal way
the scheduling calander will be for logged in members only
is this something we can do?
also, @paul you had created a module or combo of modules that used the google maps and geolocation
most of our pilots fly locally to the airports ..but some fly cross country, and even compete in regional competitions..which sometimes results in a glider landing in a field
since most of our pilots are disabled ..having a way to track on the site where the planes landed could be a huge help

anyway can you think of any way to possibly use the event calander in this way?
can a modification of the calander be created as a scheduler
we would certainly be willing to pay for the specialized module
i believe they already pay for the pilotscheduling site use and it would be far better to have it all on 1 site

i assume it would be simple enough using the form editor to create special fields for the planes and instructors
and modifying the templates to list those fields is easy enough...i think
but making adding a new event automaticly add the event as just your username and the resource (plane or instructor) (and the ability to add a comment)
i'm not sure how to do this
i think..now that i think about it a special template would just need to be created that for the event title just combines the username and the resource being viewed (from drop down menu)
or maybe it would be simpler to just have 1 event scheduled with checkboxes for the plane and instructor you plan to use?
the way they have it nows kinda awkward since you 1st have to schedule the plane then a second event scheduling the instructor

that does seem the simplest route so the only thing id need to figure out is how to get it to automaticly fill in the event name with username plane and instructor

any suggestions or help would be appreciated as i think this maybe the most confusing and tricky part of the site redesign

responsiveness issue with text editor on phones

Design and Skin Customization

hi, my members pointed out that on hones the text editor has issues
the icons in the toolbar run outside the box in 1 row, and the text box itself doesn't resize down small enough to fit the screen (seems to be the entire containing p5 div)
when typing the text goes off screen then the screen shifts over
the attach file button isn't accessible without scrolling over either
(note due to issues i continued to have with the new sitebuilder still using an older version of ningja skin and old sitebuilder) regardoless of that i think the issues in the item_detail.tpl of the jrforum module ..my only edit to that was to add the disqus code
I've tried some template edits and css tweaks but haven't solved the issue yet..which does seem to be an issue with the editor itself since the icons go outside the editors boundaries
instead of attaching screenshots theres screenshots on all 3 pages of this discussion

non profit site liscincing

Installation and Configuration

hey guys
i emailed ya about this too
but you may not know that i got my name from literally soaring with eagles with www.freedomswings.org but have not been dancing in the clouds for a number of years..until next week that is when i resume my pilots license lessons
i promised them i would redo their website which now is way in need of recreating, they are also using several sites to do the job of 1.. using a pilots scheduling site that's awkward to use and i think the calendar feature can be adapted for that use
they use yahoo groups for communication, which can be done in forums blogs and groups

and on jamroom theres just so much more we can do (like the thousands of pilots, and people who have just taken inspirational rides can share stories, lessons they learned photos and videos
and .. we can run a ground school program on site so people can familiarize themselves with the basics before a 1st flight experience

anyways.. freedoms wings was located just 3 miles from where i grew up .. the road i broke my back on injuring my spinal cord ran from my house, to the airport they flew out of, and i started flying just 2 weeks after getting out of the hospital
so its has made a huge diference in mine, and many peoples lives

because i am investing all my money this month into the books i need to study for my license i was hoping thered be a way to get a non profit discount for the liscence for the added site (and any additional modules or premium skins we may need)
freedoms wings international has been a registered 501c3 non profit for probably over 30 years
financially they are not doing that great this year (i'm also working my ass off on fundraising options too)

we use aerotow to launch the gliders, each aerotow to 3000 feet (20 minute flight if you don't find thermals and stretch it out to 1-6 hours) costs about 40 dollars i think
inspirational flights are always free so covering just the liscense for the domains 1 less person who gets to fly
additionally they have sponsorship for low income individuals that covers tow fees for training and even beyond once your licensed.

our planes are also getting older, needing repairs more often, and although they are great performance for training we would love to one day get a competition class ship
2 of our pilots have competed in regional competitions and came in 2nd place, but based on the handicap of using a trainer against high performance racers they came in 1st overall
so these are some of my fundraising goals over the next year
but in the meantime we desperately need an updated site that can help us reach these goals
sorry for posting this here, i just know i get a faster reply then by email
we can discuss the specifics by email (and delete this if you want just posted to get faster attention since i am ready to start building the site tomorrow)
