Conversion Worker

Jamroom Developers

It's been a really long time since I've looked at these modules - I believe you want the cron server on your master server and the conversion server and worker on the conversion server. I no longer have these installed anywhere nor test with them in any way so support for these is going to be super limited. Sorry about that.

PHP 8 Support for Jamroom

Announcements

Recently PHP 8 was released and I wanted to just post a quick update about Jamroom support for PHP 8. Currently Jamroom will NOT work correctly on PHP 8 - this isn't due to the Jamroom code itself (which runs no problem on PHP 8) , but Jamroom relies on a number of 3rd party libraries,

One of the larger 3rd party libraries Jamroom uses is "Smarty" which is used for processing templates. Currently a version of Smarty that supports PHP 8 is in the works, but it's not released yet - once released we will check it out and incorporate it in to the Jamroom Core.

I will also be working through several other PHP libraries and updating them as needed as well.

So just a heads up :)

If you have any questions let me know and I can follow up here.

Thanks!

phone version of tinymce text editor is limited?

Using Jamroom

Yeah that's just a plain text area - you will see that for comments when on mobile. If you go in to create a blog let's say - do you see it there? I don't believe the editor is enabled for phones in the comments template.

phone version of tinymce text editor is limited?

Using Jamroom

This is correct - you will see a "gray" box with a book icon in it - clicking that launches a full screen mobile editor that features a sub-set of the "full" editor you get on desktop/tablet (see my screenshots). This is how TinyMCE works and is not something we can change. To be honest it is a better experience this way - trying to use the "desktop" version on mobile just does not work on many devices due to the way the popup menus and modal windows work

Let me know if that helps.

Not compatible with PHP version 7.4

Installation and Configuration

Jamroom works just fine on PHP 7.4 - it's what I actually develop on (7.4.12). You hosting provider will need to make sure the CTYPE functions are enabled in your PHP:

https://www.php.net/manual/en/ctype.installation.php

These are part of the default PHP install, so your hosting provider must have disabled them on purpose.

Notifications - Email or Private Note

Using Jamroom

Hi Lorna - this is actually my fault - the User Module update was released that switched notifications over to a new "plugin" architecture - I've just pushed up Private Notes 1.6.0 that should fix this. I had not updated the release version of Private Notes so it didn't flag as pending release on this end - sorry about that.

Let me know how that works.

Thanks!

Charts acting strange after 6.5 Upgrade

Using Jamroom

Sorry for not following up here as I've been out this last week - @luis456 can you contact me at support so I can check this out again? I'm not seeing any issues with this on our largest hosted sites, so this _should_ be working.

Thanks!

Text editor posting box won't show on my updated site.

Using Jamroom

The 2 sites are not the same - you're running the NEW Jamroom Core 6.5.0+ on penneywhistle, but you are still on 6.4.0 on fotmd.com right? The version of TinyMCE on Core 6.5.0+ is newer than the version on 6.4.0 and thus needs a new editor template (or updates applied to your custom template).

You can't compare the 2 since they are from totally different versions. Let me know if that helps.

Upgrading an old site to Jamroom Core 6.5.0+

Announcements

I wanted to post a quick update here with steps on updating old Jamroom sites to the newest release when using the Marketplace.

A LOT of changes have occurred since the initial Jamroom Core 6 releases (i.e. Core 6.1.0, Core 6.2.0) and there are a number of changes in the Marketplace module as well to make sure updates install smoothly. However, on old core installs the Marketplace module does not have the "reset" cache code in it that allows the web server to "see" the new and updated version of the core module once it is updated. So that requires an extra step when updating an old site:

- Log in to the old site and go to the Marketplace -> System Updates. You'll see the new core update - press "update" to the update to the new Core.

This is likely to FAIL - you will end up with an internal server error. To fix this you need to restart the web server - this will reset the web server cache and allows it to "see" the updated Core PHP scripts.

Once the web server is restarted you should be able to go back to your site index and go into the ACP again. Once there:

- Run an Integrity Check and Reset Caches
- Go to Marketplace -> System Updates and install ONLY the update available for the Marketplace module
- Run an Integrity Check and Reset Caches
- Go back to Marketplace -> System Updates and install the rest

That should get your site updated to the latest.

Let us know if you have any issues.

Thanks!
