Ceri:
And....please correct me if I'm wrong...if I elect to use PayPal as my payment gateway I can cancel my service with Foxycart?

Yes you can - as long as you have no subscribers using FoxyCart.

minor bug report

Using Jamroom

Not seeing any issues here. Have updated several of our hosting sites to the latest and it's all working. Note that if you have just enabled Redis it will take a bit for the sessions to be setup it Redis - it's not transferring existing (old) sessions to Redis from MySQL.

Bug In System Core Update 6.1.6b7

Design and Skin Customization

You need to refresh your browser - we've updated to TinyMCE 4.7.6 in this Core release - which includes a new editor for mobile - but if you see it blank like that just refresh your browser or reset your browser cache. I know a few users have seen this as well and we've tried to "bust" the cache for this release but some browsers just will NOT show the new editor until you refresh your browser or reset cache.

jrcore_cache gets very fragmented (and other db question)

Using Jamroom

Then Redis is either not running or not configured, or the info you entered is wrong.

theres no documentation on how to set it up

There's not much to it. Click on "server browser" and add the local Redis server in - i.e.

127.0.0.1
6379

leave password blank for the local server.

Then in ACP -> Core enable Redis as the active data cache.

soaringeagle:
i noticed this has always been an issue but with the db being big it can be a big issue
jrcore_cache often is the only table fragmented if not the rest are a few k
but the cache table often has 800 megs of overhead and optimization can reduce the total db size by nearly 1/3

I'd recommend using the Redis cache module - I've just released the first non-beta version of it and it now handles multiple JR sites running in the same Redis server.

Enable Keep-Alive

Installation and Configuration

Keepalives should be enabled in your vhost or server config. They are not enabled by Jamroom nor are there plans to attempt to do that. Jamroom works with or without Keepalives, and for very busy servers it makes sense to disable them. Keepalives should have already been enabled on your server by your hosting provider - if they are not enabled, they can enable them in your domain vhost config:

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/core.html#keepalive

If your hosting provider refuses to do that for you it's time to find a new hosting provider. My hunch is they are going to use that as an excuse for why your site is so slow, when in reality you're just on an overloaded server.

Subscription Module (Beta)

Installation and Configuration

You need to select the ACTIVE plugin from the Global Config tab. The new payments module supports multiple payment processors - you need to select what payment processor you want to be the ACTIVE one in the global config and save.

Let me know if that helps.
